Big Pumpkin Daily Recap (Peewee AA)

Bennett Sklader celebrates one of Minnetonka's seven goals on Friday.

Minnetonka 7, St. Cloud 0

The Skippers scored three in the first, two in the second, and two more in the third for good measure to secure the 7-0 win over the young Huskies. Bennett Sklader led the Skipeprs with a goal and three assists, while Rowan Orpen chipped in a pair of goals in the win.

Wayzata 4, Blaine 3 (SO)

There was high drama in Rochester on Friday morning, as Wayzata scored twice in the final three minutes of regulation to force overtime and a subsequent seven-round shootout.

The Trojans' Vance Hagemo finished with a hat trick in the win, and Alisdair Sullivan scored the game-winner during the shootout. The Trojans will face their future Lake Conference rival, the Skippers, in the next round.

Rochester 5, West Fargo 3

The hosts netted three goals in the second period to build a 4-2 lead heading into the final frame, then held on for a 5-3 win over the visiting Stampede. Two of the Mustangs' goals came on the power play, and the team was paced by Brooks Miller's two goals and Will Getchell's three points (one goal, two assists).

Hermantown 5, Stillwater 3

Hudson Postal and Daulton Wright each scored twice, and Ryan Mahnke stopped 18 of 21 shots as Hermantown punched its ticket to the next round with a quality win over Stillwater. In addition to scoring twice, Wright also made one of the top "effort plays" of the day, outracing a Pony skater to a loose puck, then knocking it in the empty net on his backhand to cement the victory.

Hermantown and Rochester will go head-to-head on Saturday morning.

Ryan Mahnke stopped 18 of 21 shots in Friday's win over Stillwater.

Osseo-Maple Grove 17, Eagan 1

In a game that needs almost zero recap, the Leafbirds got a hat trick from Leo Starkey, six points from Vinny Defazio, and four points from Easton Hanson in the win over the Wildcats.

White Bear Lake 2, Duluth East 1

A true defensive battle between a pair of rugged squads, the Bears came out on top over the Greyhounds thanks to goals by Brody Farrington and Alex Brettingen. Both White Bear Lake goals came in the second period. Duluth East's Ben Molin put the Greyhounds on the board with three seconds to play in regulation. Silver lining? The Hounds killed off six of seven penalties.

Up next for the Bears will be Osseo-Maple Grove.

Cottage Grove 7, Rogers 0

A modest 2-0 lead after the first period turned crooked when the Wolfpack hung four on the board in the second en route to a 7-0 win over the Royals. Jack Atkin and Brody Harris each scored twice in the win for the Wolfpack, with single goals coming from Miles Mauer, Max Zasada, and Michael Lombard Jr. Goaltender Jameson Laricchia finished with 15 saves to earn the shutout.

Edina 11, Fargo 2

With 5:27 to play in the first period, Fargo took a 2-1 lead over Edina. Time stood still. The earth creaked to a grown mid-spin. The clouds parted, and a light briefly shone down on the Graham Arena Complex.

Then four minutes later, the Hornets tied the game, then stomped their way to nine goals during the second and third periods for an 11-2 victory.

Jack Allgood led all skaters with four goals and seven points, giving him the tournament lead as of this writing. Chase Williamson finished with a goal and two helpers, and the Hornets got two points apiece from Charlie Hansen, Connor Kemp, Henrik Morrell, and Rafael Vellieux.

The Hornets will face Cottage Grove in the next round.

Jack Allgood's seven points currently make him the highest scorer in the Big Pumpkin field.

Chaska/Chanhassen 9, Mahtomedi 0

The Stormhawks stormed (sorry) to a 9-0 win over the Zephyrs to open their Big Pumpkin experience, getting a hat trick from Enzo Gianetti and two goals from Colton Clark. Easton Nichols, Easton Puente, Ben Duda, and Logan Seaver all scored once in the win for Chaska/Chanhassen.

Hastings 8, Cloquet 3

Kooper Ewing's four goals powered the Raiders to an 8-3 win over the Lumberjacks, and the four tallies tie Ewing with Edina's Jack Allgood for the most goals scored in a single game as of 6:40 PM. Braxton Likes scored twice, and London Stewart and Eli Angerman each scored once for the Raiders, who netted three of their goals on the power play.

Berkeley Leno dished out three assists in the loss for Cloquet, and Marcus Gentilini stood out with a pair of goals for the Lumberjacks.

Centennial 6, Rosemount 1

A four-goal second period sends Centennial to the next round with a resounding win over the Irish. Easton Woeltge and Easton Knaeble gave the Easton brand the best publicity it's had in almost two decades, with two goals apiece for the Cougars.

Kids, ask your dads about Easton. They'll get a faraway look in their eyes, and they might even cry. They've been dreaming since you were born about the day they could sit you down, hand you an ice-cold beverage, and tell you about the Synergy, Stealth, and Z-Bubble.

Shakopee 5, Moorhead 4 (SO)

More shootout drama on Rink 3! Seriously, if rinks 1, 2, and 4 at the Graham Arena Complex played out like a typical network sitcom with a laugh track and too much hair gel, GAC's Rink 3's day went more according to a "Days of our Lives" script mixed with gas station sushi - well written, delicious, but dangerous.

Shakopee scored three times in the second period to erase a 3-1 deficit against the Spuds, forcing the extra sessions. Colton Von Bokern scored two goals for the Sabers, Seth Youngberg finished with two assists and the game-winning shootout goal. Jack Emmerich scored twice for Moorhead in the loss.

Tanner Newman, Centennial

Andover 10, Brainerd 0

The Huskies scored five times in the first period and kept their collective feet to the gas, scoring five more times to put double-digits on the board in the win over Brainerd. Luke Talbot's hat trick led the way, while Elijah Stalboerger netted a pair and Wesley Hodgson finished with two goals and one assist.

Lakeville North 8, Thunder Bay Kings 4

Thanks to a four-goal third period, Lakeville North pulled away for the win over the lone Canadian team in the field. Nolan Williams recorded a hat trick, and Bogdan Smoliak scored twice to lead the scoresheet for the Panthers, while goaltender Rylan Vandenakker made 18 saves on 22 shots.

Prior Lake 7, Elk River 3

A darkhorse candidate to win the whole thing, Prior Lake racked up five goals in the opening period to break open a 2-2 tie in Friday afternoon's win over Elk River. Anders Thelen carried the day with two goals and two assists, and the Lakers got one goal each from Maxwell Neist, Henry Sterns, Dominic Iaria, and Chase Langlay.

Woodbury 10, St. Michael-Albertville 1

The Predators exploded for six goals in the second period to burn out the scoreboard bulbs against the Knights, finishing with 10 goals to become the fourth Big Pumpkin team to reach double digits today. Braden Boomer's hat trick led the Predators in the goal column, and he was joined in the three-point club by Porter Engelhardt (two goals, one assist) and Logan Gliniany (one goal, two assists).

Bogdan Smoliak scored twice as Lakeville North downed Thunder Bay 8-4.

Little Pumpkin Daily Recap (Peewee A)

Jack Vanden Boomen, Chaska/Chanhassen Peewee A

Pool A

Two teams have emerged at the top of Pool A with spotless 2-0 records, with a third lurking in the weeds with a 1-1 mark after the first day of competition.

Chaska/Chanhassen and Andover are the 2-0 squads in Pool A for the moment, as the Stormhawks downed Rochester 5-3 and Stillwater 9-3. Owen Maruk paces Chaska/Chanhassen in goals with four, which leaves him tied with Jack Vanden Boomen (two goals, two assists) atop the points leaders. The Stormhawks will play Wayzata and Andover on Saturday.

Andover edged Wayzata 3-2 and Stillwater 5-3 on Friday, led by Preston Atkinson's three goals and the staunch goaltending of Bryden Decheine and Graham Benson. At 1-1, Wayzata is still dangerous. The Trojans rebounded from a heartbreaking 3-2 loss to Andover on Friday morning with a 6-1 victory over Rochester. Noah Cattoor and Declan Cooney have combined for three goals and seven points for the Trojans thus far.

Pool B

Like Pool A, Pool B has two clear frontrunners and a darkhorse candidate. Osseo-Maple Grove and Woodbury are both 2-0, while White Bear Lake could play spoiler at 1-1.

The Leafbirds appear poised to repeat as Little Pumpkin champions after beating nearby rivals STMA and Rogers by a combined score of 13-1. Shea O'Leary, Wyland Smyth, Levi Sorensen, and Kaleb Stener each have four points after two games for OMG.

Woodbury topped STMA 8-2 and White Bear Lake 5-2. Leonard Hannahan currently leads the Predators and the Little Pumpkin field in scoring with seven points.

White Bear Lake will look to bounce back after a 5-2 loss to Woodbury on Friday night. The Bears blanked Rogers 7-0 on Friday morning behind Azariah Winegar's hat trick, and the team is led in scoring by Silas Kimball's two goals and five points.
