Top teams dictate placing this week, with some teams suffering losses but not moving down in the rankings.

Class AA Rankings

Cate McCoy, Edina

1. Hill-Murray (6-0)

A 5-2 win over Eden Prairie and a 4-0 shutout of No. 5-2A Maple Grove cap a routine week of winning for the Pioneers. The Pioneers are proving they can win big without major contributions from the high-powered duo of Jaycee Chatleain and Wisconsin commit Emily Pohl, neither of whom registered a single goal last week. Hannah Rychley and Sophie Olson combined for five of the team's nine goals in last week's wins.

2. Holy Family (4-0)

The Fire thumped Holy Angels 7-1 and then hung on for a 4-3 win over No. 1-1A Warroad last week, avenging a 2024 loss to the Warriors. Holy Family will face Eden Prairie on Tuesday, and a showdown with No. 3-2A Centennial/Spring Lake Park looms on Saturday.

3. Centennial/Spring Lake Park (4-0-1)

The Cougars blasted North Wright County 11-0 before edging River Cities 3-2 over the weekend to pick up two wins since the last batch of rankings. The Cougars have yet to allow a goal in the first period this season, and are a perfect 17/17 on the penalty kill.

4. Edina (4-1)

Had Centennial/Spring Lake Park tied River Cities, the Hornets would slide into the No. 3 slot after a convincing 6-2 win over No. 9-2A Farmington, which came after a 10-0 victory over Hopkins/St. Louis Park earlier in the week. Senior Dartmouth commit Cate McCoy tripled her season point total with six assists in the two wins after coming into the week with two goals and three points.

5. Maple Grove (4-1)

Maple Grove eked out a 2-1 win over Benilde-St. Margaret's and were blanked by top-ranked Hill-Murray last week. The Crimson will take on Hopkins/St. Louis Park and Eden Prairie this week, and will face No. 3-2A Centennial/Spring Lake Park on Dec. 5.

6. Minnetonka (2-0-1)

Like Edina, Minnetonka stays in its slot from last week because of the teams ahead of it. Hill-Murray appears unbeatable, so how harshly do we judge Maple Grove for losing to the Pioneers? I can't answer that yet. Beating Andover is nice, but the second goal of the 2-0 win came with three seconds left in regulation against a team that lost to a sub-.500 Forest Lake squad. Class A powers Orono and Dodge County should provide the Skippers with stiff competition.

7. Moorhead (3-2)

The Spuds shut out Crookston 4-0 while outshooting the Pirates 39-3, according to the Girls' Hockey Hub. On deck for the coming week are Andover and Elk River, both road contests for the Spuds.

8. Benilde-St. Margaret's (4-1)

A 14-0 win over Waconia was followed by the Red Knights' first loss of the season, a 2-1 defeat at the hands of No. 5-2A Maple Grove. The Red Knights will look to get back on the horse with games against Wayzata and Bemidji this week.

9. Farmington (4-1)

The Tigers beat South Suburban Conference rivals Lakeville South and Shakopee last week before losing to No. 4-2A Edina. In another case of a higher-ranked team dictating terms, had BSM lost by more than one against Maple Grove, or if Farmington had stayed closer with the Hornets, the Tigers could have inched their way ahead of the Red Knights.

10. Mounds View/Irondale (6-0-1)

Mounds View/Irondale finds itself atop the Suburban East Conference at the end of the week after tying Forest Lake 1-1, beating North Wright County 4-2, and Stillwater 4-1. Sarah Johnson leads the state in goals (14) and points (23), but goaltender Kayla Kearin also deserves credit for MVI's hot start. Kearin has posted a 1.96 goals-against-average and a .931 save percentage while playing every minute this season.

Sophie Olson, Hill-Murray

Class A Rankings

1. Warroad (3-1)

The Warriors lost to No. 2-2A Holy Family on Friday but rebounded with a 3-1 win over 2025 Class A State Tournament participant River Lakes the next night to go 1-1 for the week. Bemidji and Andover are up next for the Warriors, who can’t be bumped for losing to a team within striking distance of the No. 1 ranking in Class AA.

2. Dodge County (5-0)

The Wildcats outscored Hastings and Minneapolis by a combined score of 15-1 last week, and will face tougher tests with upcoming games against No. 5-1A Blake and No. 6-2A Minnetonka.

3. Breck (5-0)

Wins over unranked Visitation (10-1) and Lakeville South (4-1) provide little context for the Mustangs, who won’t face another ranked opponent until a Dec. 6 date with top-ranked Warroad.

4. Marshall (5-0)

The Tigers continue their winning ways with a 6-1 victory over Hutchinson and a 7-1 win over Worthington. Brooklyn Mauch is now tied with Mounds View/Irondale’s Sarah Johnson for the state lead in scoring with 14 goals, and Abbey Foley leads the state in assists with 12.

5. Blake (4-1)

The Bears topped Holy Angels and Blaine last week with back-to-back shutouts, bringing goaltender Janie McGawn’s total to three blank sheets this season. Dodge County and Farmington are on the docket for the Bears.

6. Proctor/Hermantown (3-2)

Proctor/Hermantown cruised past Section 7A rival Moose Lake Area 6-0 last week, then downed No. 7-1A Orono 3-1. Rock Ridge and Andover are up next for the Mirage this week.

7. Orono (3-2)

The Spartans suffered their second loss of the season last week in a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Proctor/Hermantown, spoiling the good feelings after a 5-1 win over Minneapolis. An interesting statistic - the losing side in all five of Orono’s games this season has recorded a single goal. The Spartans will take on Minnetonka and Northfield this week.

8. Westonka/Southwest Christian (1-1-1)

The White Hawks didn’t play a game last week, and will make a northern Minnesota swing after the Thanksgiving holiday with games against North Shore and Rock Ridge on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

9. Albert Lea (4-0)

Albert Lea shut out Winona last week by a score of 3-0, outshooting the Winhawks 45-18 in the process. The Tigers also held Winona to a 0-5 mark on the power play. No. 4-1A Marshall comes to town tonight (Monday), which could provide Albert Lea with a premium chance to move up in the rankings.

10. Mankato East (4-0-1)

The Cougars took care of business with an 8-1 win over Rochester Century/John Marshall and a 6-1 win over South St. Paul this week. Laina Peterson (four goals, 11 points) and Ava Tibodeau (two goals, 10 points) have officially reached the double-digit scoring mark.
