Holy Family's Kayla Swartout earned her 50th career win last week. Swartout is committed to Wisconsin.
1. Centennial/Spring Lake Park (14-2-1)
The Cougars tuned Braemar Arena into their own stomping ground, beating Andover, Edina, and previously top-ranked Holy Family at the Walser Invitational to take over as the No. 1 team in Class AA. The Cougars will lose leading scorer and Minnesota Duluth commit Laini Gentz for two weeks as she skates for Team USA at the IIHF Under-18 Women’s World Championships.
2. Holy Family (15-1)
The Fire thumped Maple Grove 8-2 and blanked Minnetonka 2-0 before losing its first game of the season against Centennial/Spring Lake Park in the Walser Invitational finals. Barring a catastrophic meltdown, the Fire should have secured the No. 1 seed in the Section 2AA playoffs with the win over Minnetonka. Like C/SLP, the Fire will be shorthanded for the next two weeks. Wisconsin commit Maddy Kimbrel and Minnesota commit Katya Sander will be playing for Team USA.
3. Hill-Murray (15-2)
As mentioned above with Holy Family, the Pioneers will also be without two standouts as they represent the United States at the U18 Women’s Worlds. Addy McLay and Emily Pohl are off to Cape Breton.
Over the holiday break, the Pioneers blasted Rosemoint 6-0 and Orono 6-1, then were curiously taken to overtime by Benilde-St. Margaret’s before prevailing in the extra session.
4. Minnetonka (11-1-4)
Before the puck dropped on the 2025-2026 season, you’d be wealthy if you had bet that Minnetonka would have four ties by this point in the season. Considering they’ve played 16 games, that means a quarter of Skipper contests have ended in a draw. Math.
The “tie” with Edina came during tourney play, but the tie with unranked Moorhead is the real head-scratcher.
5. Edina (10-4-2)
The Hornets beat Andover and Moorhead, “tied” Minnetonka, lost to Centennial/Spring Lake Park, and beat Holy Angels in their first game of 2026. Whew. The Hornets will play Lake Conference opponents for the next couple of weeks, before facing No. 1-1A Warroad on Hockey Day Minnesota (Jan. 22)
6. Bemidji (13-1)
Five games, five wins for the Lumberjacks, who have gone 6-0 since suffering their lone loss of the season against Holy Family. Bailey Rupp and her 29 goals will head off to Canada for the U18 Women’s Worlds, but her absence could pay off by affording more prominent roles to other players in the Bemidji lineup.
7. Wayzata (12-2-1)
The Trojans beat Owatonna two days before Christmas, then edged Moorhead 4-3 on the road on Jan. 2. A Jan. 8 meeting with Lake Conference rival Edina should provide a better barometer of where the Trojans rank among the state’s top teams.
8. Benilde-St. Margaret’s (9-5-1)
Perhaps no team will miss its Team USA representative more than the Red Knights, whose leading scorer, Talla Hansen, will be in Cape Breton for the next three weeks. The Red Knights currently have three players with sizable leads as the team’s top scorers: Hansen, Kate Zakrajsheck, and Brynn Heising. Losing Hansen means the scoring load falls to Zakrajscheck and Heising, who rely heavily on Hansen for their power play production.
9. Maple Grove (10-5)
A win over Andover, previously ranked No. 7-2A, bumps the Crimson up to the No. 9-2A for this week, with a 3-1 mark over its last four games. As of this week, three of Maple Grove’s five losses this season have come against teams that have been ranked No. 1 at some point this season - Centennial/Spring Lake Park, Holy Family, and Hill-Murray.
10. Andover (9-8)
Even hovering just above .500, Andover has one thing that so many teams just outside the top-10 do not - a win over a ranked team, and that win over Hill-Murray, which was No. 1-2A and unbeaten at the time, is still a viable reason to keep the Huskies in the top-10 for now. Sneaky unranked teams are on deck this week for the Huskies, who will play River Cities and Duluth.
Peyton DeMuth scored two goals and assisted on another as Marshall topped Minnesota River 5-3 to move back into the top-10.
1. Warroad (14-2)
The Warriors took care of business during their holiday tournament, beating Crookston, Albert Lea, and North Shore. Freshman Olivia Anthony has taken over as the team’s leading goal scorer, and totaled two goals and six points during the three-game stretch.
2. Breck (12-1-1)
By virtue of the win over rival Blake, Breck moves into the No. 2 slot this week, and the only thing keeping the Mustangs out of the No. 1 ranking is the Dec. 6 loss to Warroad. The Mustangs will take on Orono and Blake before the next batch of rankings.
3. Blake (13-3)
The Bears topped Minneapolis, Rogers, and Blaine over the holidays, giving them 13 wins on the season. That total puts them just two victories away from surpassing last year’s regular season total, with nine games left in the 2025-2026 campaign.
4. Proctor/Hermantown (10-3-2)
The Mirage won both games since the last rankings, beating Thief River Falls and North Shore. The wins give the Mirage a four-game winning streak, and the team has scored five or more goals in each of the four victories.
The Mirage will lose Taylee Manion to the U18 Women’s World Championships. Manion is the lone Class A player to suit up for Team USA this season.
5. Dodge County (12-3-1)
Wins over Holy Angels, Blaine, and Eagan go along with a tie against Breck to keep the Wildcats at No. 5 this week. The Dodge County power play has been impressive through 16 games, converting at a 36.8% success rate, and the Wildcats will need that unit to continue producing while taking on Minnesota River, Hill-Murray, and Holy Family on the road this week.
6. Mankato East (14-1-1)
While the Cougar suffered their first loss of the season last week, the teams ranked behind them fared the same or worse, leaving Mankato East in the No. 6 spot. The Cougars lost to Northfield, then responded with wins over Visitation, Mounds View/Irondale, and Luverne.
In the 17-0 (!) win over Visitation, Laina Peterson scored seven goals, tying her for the second-most goals in an individual game according to MSHSL records.
7. Westonka/Southwest Christian (8-5-3)
Five games, three wins, a loss, and a tie for the White Hawks. The wins didn’t come against Murderers’ Row - Chaska/Chanhassen, White Bear Lake, and Shakopee, and the tie was a 0-0 draw with Lakeville South. Since being shut out in back-to-back games against Breck and Maple Grove, the White Hawks have averaged nearly four goals per game.
8. Marshall (15-4)
The Tigers move back into the neighborhood with a win over previous No. 9-1A Minnesota River behind a three-goal, five-point performance by Brooklyn Mauch. It’s hard to believe, but the Tigers are only six games away from the conclusion of the regular season. They are the on-paper favorites in all six games.
9. North Shore (11-6)
Not only did North Shore hang around with top-ranked Warroad in a 4-2 loss, the Storm topped Albert Lea during the Warroad Holiday Tournament, which had been slated eighth in the last set of rankings.
The 8-2 loss to Proctor/Hermantown stings, but the Storm have proven they can hang with some of the state’s best in Class A over the course of the season.
10. Orono (7-8-1)
The Spartans are currently on a four-game losing streak and a five-game winless skid, and their power play is at a more-than-modest 15% success rate. The win over Dodge County on Dec. 6 can only carry them so far, rankings-wise, but it’s hard to pile on the Spartans too much when five of their eight losses have come against No. 3-1A Blake, No. 4-1A Proctor/Hermantown, No. 4-2A Minnetonka, No. 9-2A Benilde-St. Margaret’s, and No. 3-2A Hill-Murray.

Edina White has not lost since December 7 going 7-0-5 in their last 12 games. Wayzata beat EW in a shootout and they are now playing their best hockey. The Trojans took took down #3 Blaine-Rogers to earn a spot in the the top.

Similar to other divisions across the state New Year, new #1 is the them as Edina White takes the top spot to start the year. Chaska/Chanhassen are right on their heels at #2 though tying with them on Jan 3rd 2-2. Rochester's run at the top was cut short after losing to Chaska/Chanhassen and drop below them to #3. Woodbury Royal and Farmington round out the top five at #4 and #5 respectively. Your bottom five remain in the same order as the last edition. Congrats to Hastings as well for winning this years Danglefest.

This is one of the best years and best levels of girls hockey in the YHH era (est. 2011). So many high quality teams, it is very difficult to pick 10 teams.
The top ten and teams just outside played a lot of head-to-head games the last two weeks. The chart stopper was CC beating Edina the DF semifinals in OT.
Orono-Westonka enters the T10 with a win over CTR MN and a tie with OMG. CENT-SLP has hit their stride at the halfway point. The Cougars beat #2 Wayzata, #6 Moorhead and #9 Blaine en route a #5 slot this week.
A lot of really good teams just on the outside: SHAK/PL, White Bear Lake, East Grand Forks and River Lakes.
The Bears won a lot of bears in Blaine last week including tourney MVP Olivia Villella

The New Year doesn't bring much of a change to the top of these rankings as Edina Gold and Edina Black retain the #1 and #2 spots. White Bear Lake makes a good jump up to #3 after winning the Danglefest last week playing five games and then still had three more in the actual new year for an 8 game week going 6-1-1. Cannon River stays at #4 winning the Rocky Taconite Tournament in Silver Bay. Hutchinson also stays at #5 after a solid three win week. Orono/Westonka after a rough week and in looking back at head-to-head matchups with Hutchinson drops to #6. Welcome Chaska/Chanhassen to the top ten debuting at #8 after an impressive showing at the Danglefest last week.

Edina Green and Edina White take all the headlines this week in 10A. Green wins the Danglefest with a few nice wins down the stretch. White has a tough time in Fargo, but manages a tourney win including three one-goal wins over PCG, OMG and an OT thriller over Stillwater in the finals. Mila Heinmiller scores the GWG for the Hornets.

With more results coming things are starting to take a little more shape in this division. Our theme is New Year, new #1 apparently as we give the nod to Woodbury Gold after winning the Danglefest. Osseo/Maple Grove Black also makes a big jump up to #2 after winning the Fargo Tournament. Inver Grove Heights/Eagan Blue stays at #3 with their only losses to the top two teams. Neighbor Rosemount stays at #4 given their head-to-head with IGH/Eagan Blue. We are moving Waseca down even though they are still undefeated on the season, the reasoning is simply overall body of work as they are several points down in Strength of Schedule to others in this region, prove us wrong Bluejays. Eden Prairie cracks into the mix at #10 this week.
