Kennedy Hochbaum, Minnetonka
1. Centennial/Spring Lake Park (20-2-1)
With two games to play in the regular season, the Cougars (should) have the top seed in Section 5AA. Will the Cougars take their paws off the scheduling gas? Absolutely not. They beat Andover and Minnetonka last week, and will play Anoka on Tuesday before concluding the regular season against No. 2-2A Hill-Murray on Jan. 31.
2. Hill-Murray (19-3-1)
The loss to Breck notwithstanding, the Pioneers defeated previous No. 2-2A Holy Family 5-3 on Saturday, avenging a Dec. 6 loss thanks to a pair of goals and an assist from Gwynn Skoogman. Skoogman has played just six games since returning from injury in early December, and while still working her way back to 100%, the talented sophomore has five goals and six points.
3. Holy Family (20-3)
The only interesting thing about the loss to Hill-Murray on Saturday is that it's the first time the Fire have lost to a team other than Centennial/Spring Lake Park. With Team USA gold medalists Katya Sander and Maddy Kimbrel fully back in the swing of things, the Fire will take on Proctor/Hermantown and Gentry Academy before rolling into the Section 2AA playoffs as the top seed barring disaster.
4. Minnetonka (16-2-5)
Two of three games last week went to overtime, which is familiar territory for the Skippers. Seven games this season have gone into extra innings. Centennial/Spring Lake Park won Thursday night in the extra session, then Delaney Miller netted the game-winner in the Skippers' 2-1 victory over Wayzata on Saturday.
Blaine and Maple Grove wrap up the regular season this week.
5. Edina (17-4-3)
After last week, the Hornets have now posted shutouts in four consecutive games, and have not allowed more than one goal in a single contest since Jan. 8. In that span, Finley Engfer and Lucy Bertram each posted two blank sheets.
The Hornets, the very likely top seed in Section 6AA, will end the regular season against Lake Conference rival Wayzata on Tuesday.
6. Benilde-St. Margaret's (14-8-1)
The Red Knights meander back into the top-10 with wins over previous No. 7-2A River Cities and current No. 10-2A Moorhead, with a 7-0 victory over Holy Angels sandwiched between the ranked wins.
Having Talla Hansen back from her tour with Team USA has been a clear boost for the lineup, as Hansen recorded three goals and five points last week. Brynn Heising also had five points last week, and leading scorer Katie Zakrajsheck had four.
7. Maple Grove (14-8)
The Crimson has scored five goals in a game twice this season, and the second time came last week against previously sixth-ranked Wayzata in a 5-2 win. The Crimson scored in every period and outshot the Trojans 46-12, reminding the rest of the world how dangerous the Crimson can be at its best.
8. Woodbury (23-0-1)
Woodbury stands pat at No. 8, but could climb for the final staff rankings with a win over River Cities, depending on what happens with the teams ahead of the Royals. With one game to go in the regular season, goaltender Alyssa Polaski could finish a 25-game slate with a goals-against-average below 1.00. Polaski's current numbers include a 0.91 GAA, .958 save percentage, and eight shutouts.
9. Moorhead (12-8-2)
The Spuds should have locked up the No. 1 seed in Section 8AA with its recent win over Alexandria, and picking up victories over Bemidji and Class A power Blake helps bump the Spuds to No. 9.
Alexandria, Warroad, and Roseau are the final regular-season games on the schedule for the Spuds.
10. River Cities (14-8)
The Blades have won seven of their last eight games, the lone loss coming against No. 6-2A Benilde-St. Margaret's in a hotly contested 4-3 game, in which the Blades pumped 43 shots on the Red Knights' net.
The Blades will end the regular season with games against Osseo/Park Center, Woodbury, and Wayzata.
Brynn Heising, Benilde-St, Margaret's
Breck's Clara Milinkovich stopped 51 of 53 shots in Breck's win over Hill-Murray.
1. Breck (20-1-1)
There may not be a team on a hotter streak right now than the Mustangs, who are 13-0-1 since a 3-1 loss to Warroad on Dec. 6.
The most significant win of that bunch came last Thursday, as Clara Milinkovich turned in a goaltending performance for the ages with 51 saves in a 3-2 victory over Class AA defending state champion Hill-Murray. The Mustangs were outshot 53-15 in the loss.
2. Warroad (17-4-1)
Speaking of low shot totals, the Warriors mustered 11 on net in last week's loss to Edina, and were held without a shot on goal in the first period of the 2-0 loss. Payton Rolli was a bright spot with 32 saves on 33 shots. The Warriors stay at No. 2 thanks to last week's No. 3-1A Blake losing to Moorhead.
The Warriors will play Roseau, Moorhead, and Rock Ridge before settling in as the top seed in Section 8A.
3. Dodge County (16-5-1)
The Wildcats won all three games last week, shutting out Blaine 3-0, edging Gentry Academy 3-2, then pulling away from rival Northfield for a 4-1 win. St. Thomas commit Maysie Koch is the first Wildcat to reach the 40-point mark (17 goals, 23 assists) this season, and finished the week with a goal and five points.
On Jan. 31, the31, the Wildcats will travel to Golden Valley for a date with top-ranked Breck, which could have massive Class A State Tournament seeding implications if both teams win their respective sections.
4. Blake (17-5)
The Bears swap spots with Dodge County this week after losing to Moorhead on the road to snap a three-game winning streak. Goaltender Janie McGawn has done everything in her power to be a frontrunner for the Jori Jones Senior Goalie of the Year Award, recording a 1.26 goals-against-average, a .949 save percentage, and seven shutouts to date.
5. Proctor/Hermantown (14-5-2)
The battle for girls' high school hockey supremacy in the Twin Ports turned out to be a fabulous game, with Duluth making a late charge on two Mae McCall goals in the third period to pull within one at 3-2, before the Mirage's Ella Kaups' empty-netter iced it.
The Mirage has now won four of its last five, and will finish the regular season with Superior (WI), Gentry Academy, and No. 3-2A Holy Family.
6. Marshall (19-4)
With Mankato East's loss to unranked Thief River Falls, Marshall moves ahead one spot to No. 6 this week, with two games to go in the regular season.
Brooklyn Mauch's five points paced an 8-1 win over New Ulm last week, and the Tigers will take on Section 3A rival Luverne on Jan. 27.
Note: the Tigers' Jan. 23 game against South Central has been postponed, likely due to the frigid temperatures. As of this writing, the game has not been re-added to the Marshall schedule, and may not be played.
7. Westonka/Southwest Christian (11-8-3)
The loss to Breck was expected, and the White Hawks responded, as they typically do, with a win, beating Delano/Rockford 3-2 in overtime to make up for a loss to the Tigers on Dec. 11. South St. Paul, Hutchinson, and Willmar remain on the schedule for the White Hawks.
8. Mankato East (19-2-1)
The Cougars drop a couple of spots after a loss to unranked Thief River Falls, but rebounding with a 4-0 win over East Grand Forks (which beat Thief River Falls earlier in the season) is the best medicine. Over the northern swing, the Cougars added a second member to the 50-point club, with Ella Fugazzi joining Laina Peterson.
Albert Lea, Northfield, and Rochester Mayo close out the regular season for the Cougars.
9. Orono (11-12-1)
The Spartans bounced back from a 6-1 loss to Holy Family (their third in a row), with wins over Bloomington Jefferson and Waconia. Chaska/Chanhassen is the last game on the Spartans' regular-season schedule.
10. Thief River Falls (16-5)
The win over Mankato East demands to be rewarded, and the Prowlers earn their spin in the spotlight after their 2-0 victory over the Cougars. Parker Olsonawski and Lila Dalager each scored once in the win, and goaltender McKenna Carr posted an 18-save shutout.
The Prowlers finish the regular season with road games against East Grand Forks, Cloquet/Esko/Carlton, and Grand Rapids/Greenway.

As we wind down the 2025-26 campaign, some teams are hitting their stride and others have hit a wall.
Edina hasn't hit a wall, much less been near one all year. The Hornets remain undefeated.
Elk River gets a good win over Blaine-Rogers, but the Elks follow it up with a loss to Buffalo. North Wright County has been steady, they claim the #10 spot this week. The Riverhawks go 2-0-1 on the week and join the party.
Eagan is in at #10 after two wins this week.

This was a light week for gameplay, but we do have some movement. Rochester moves back into the top spot this week after #3 Chaska/Chanhassen hit some ice bumps. The rest of the rankings held steady with no movement in the 4 through 10 placements. #7 Edina Green did pick up a win over Chaska/Chanhassen, but also lost to unranked Mankato.
Orono Westonka slots in at #8 this week.

Only two losses in the T10 last week. But they both mattered.
First, Edina upends previous #1 Chaska-Chan 3-0 in D6 play to move up to #2. Wayzata Gold moves to #1 (they have most recent win over Edina) and CC slides into #3.
Second, #7 Shak-PL beats #8 Orono-Westonka to create some order in the middle.
Eagan/IGH wins the Hopkins tournament and Blaine wins up north in Virginia. Both teams went 4-0.
Speaking of tournaments, #1 Wayzata hosts #3 CC this Saturday in their Winter Warrior at PIC.
Edina Black is at #1 after a six win week.

We had a rematch of our top two again, and the script has been flipped. Edina Black regains the #1 spot after defeating #2 Edina Gold 2-1. Edina Black also picked up a tournament win in Moorhead. Edina Gold was also in tournament action, picking up the Minneapolis Storm Championship.
Hutchinson jumps up a couple of places to #3 after winning their home tournament, the Bardown in H-Town. Roseville/Mahtomedi Silver slides up three places to #4 after a good weekend in Moorhead, where they split with Edina Black. Welcome to the Top 10 Eagan/Inver Grove Heights.

It's January 26 and Bemidji remains undefeated...great work by the Lumberjacks. Edina White had a great week, wins over rival Edina Green and a big win over T10 Chaska-Chan. They move up to #2.
Three top-10 teams did not play causing very little turbulence on the U10A flight this week. No new passengers and only a few teams changed seats.
OMG went undefeated this week with four wins.

Teams are now getting a good mix of tournament play and league games. The rankings this week get to take their turn at having no movement at all. Woodbury Gold was idle this week, so keep the #1 spot. #2 Osseo/Maple Grove played in the Minneapolis Winter Storm Tournament and came out as the Champions. #4 Eden Prairie made the trek out to Hutchinson and came away with the Bardown in H-Town Championship.
