PeeWee B: Edina > Sartell (4-3 OT), Minneapolis > Moose Lake (4-2), Hallock > North Metro (6-5), and Johnson/Como > Rochester Black (5-1)

Commentary: Oooooh….close call for the Hornets, Thomas Waterloo with GWG in OT. Minneapolis  in a closer than expected outcome with Moose Lake.  Hallock keeps on winning….can they be stopped? Find out tomorrow. The Governor/Cougar squad is going to be tough to stop this weekend. Some great matchups tomorrow: Edina vs. MPLS…The Hornets have had The Storms number this year and Hallock vs. Johnson/Como…two smaller associations with a shot at State Title game (I love it).

PeeWee A: Luverne > Cottage Grove (1-0), Minneapolis > East Grand Forks (6-3), Orono > Virginia (5-3), and Edina > Sartell (7-4)

Commentary: Big surprise from the small town of Luverne, knocking out Cottage Grove in the first round. I had Cottage Grove finishing second in this tournament. The Storm rolls on, they may be playing the best of all teams left. Orono advances over a tough Virginia team and as predicted, Edina scores in bunches to move on versus Orono. Tomorrow it’s Luverne against Minneapolis…two immovable forces face off in Faribault and Edina vs. Orono, the Hornets cannot overlook the Spartans a team with quit in them.

PeeWee AA: Edina  > St. Cloud (10-2) , Duluth East > Centennial (9-4), Wayzata > Grand Rapids (2-1), and STMA > Minnetonka (4-3)

Commentary: Edina may put every game into running time…this team is special. Duluth East continues to score in bunches, but, can they do it verse Edina? Wayzata held off the Thunderhawks (err…Indians) in a very exciting game. STMA had two great wins at Braemar today over D6 teams, if you didn’t believe in the Knights…you have to now.  Tomorrow it’s Edina against Duluth East, two highly skilled teams that both pack a punch.  Duluth East will have to stay out of the box and play both ways to keep it close. STMA is not a sleeper, they are for real…Wayzata has to play with intensity the entire game in order to win.

PeeWee B: Edina > MPLS (5-2) and Johnson/Como > Hallock (6-3)

Commentary: As predicted, Edina will face JC in the finals.  This should be another great contest.  A great run for Hallock and MPLS this season. Hallock a tiny association from D16 has a lot to be proud of and MPLS Purple and the rest of the MPLS Storm Association is now an association to reckon with.
PeeWee A: MPLS > Luverne (4-2) and Orono > Edina (4-2)

Commentary: Orono and MPLS headed to the finals.  These teams know each other very well, I’ve honestly lost track of how many times they’ve played each other…haha. Orono beats #1 Edina (who has beaten both Orono and MPLS a couple times) when it counted most.  My Edina sweep prediction is now wrong.

PeeWee AA: Edina > Duluth East (4-3) and Wayzata > STMA (3-2).

Commentary: The Edina v. East game was outstanding today. Both teams played their guts out. As did Wayzata and STMA.  I imagine Edina will be too much for the Trojans.  Odd factoid: Three teams in Bantam AA and PeeWee AA final four also had teams in the State AA High School Final Four.  Hmmm? If only Hill Murray had a youth program.

PeeWee B: Edina > Johnson/Como (5-0)

PeeWee A: MPLS > Orono (5-4)

PeeWee AA: Edina > Wayzata (7-0)

Commentary: What more needs to be said, Edina is the king of this ’99-’01 age group in boys youth hockey.  That being said, there is a new sheriff in town (48 Hours reference) and his name The Yeti.  Minneapolis hockey is showing up everywhere on the radar and The Storm’s win at PW single A is just the beginning of an even bigger Storm about to hit the scene in the next few years.
