U10A PreSeason Top 10: Let’s Go Rangers

This year’s U10A landscape is almost entirely different from last year. Gone are last year’s top 4 powers Minneapolis, White Bear, Edina, and Mound Westonka. As was the case last year, we will learn a lot in the first few weeks of the season. The Edina Cake Eater Classic (November) and the Moose Goheen hosted  by White Bear Lake (December). Both  tournaments  feature several top teams in the state.

Speaking of Edina, the Hornets will field two teams at U10A this year, thus watering down their very strong talent pool thus affording more girls a chance at a higher level of play. A great move for long term development…but also a move that may prevent them from an appearance in the YHH Top 10.

Several teams have already made their mark in November (Shakopee, Centennial and Stillwater). But the team that stands out most is the Forest Lake Rangers. Returning several players from a very good team last year (ranked between 8-12 all year) the Rangers swept the All American Girls Tournament at the Schwan Super Rink last weekend Defeating a strong North Wright County team in the final, 4-0. Good luck to Troy Parent and his team the rest of the year.

Here is an early guess on the U10A Top 10:

1. Forest Lake
2. Stillwater
3. Wayzata
4. Andover
5. Shakopee
6. Farmington
7. North Wright County
8. Centennial
9. Inver Grove Heights
10. Cottage Grove
