IGH's Logan Radent scores for District 8 Sunday

Some of the top 2000 and 2001 Birth year players converged upon Braemar Arena this past weekend to develop and showcase their skills. A total of 16 teams representing all 12 of Minnesota's districts played three games. A total of 24 games were played, 6 each on Friday and Sunday and 12 on Saturday.

There were a few standout teams and players this past weekend of note. District 3 swept all three of their games including an exciting 3-2 win over District 6 Blue on Saturday. District 15 lead by Ben Doherty (Alexandria), Nolan Westra (Moorhead) and Ethan Frisch (Moorhead) scored 17 goals in two games on Saturday.

On Sunday, District 8 Blue got their first win of the event after a loss and a tie when they knocked off District 12 4-3 with 3 second half goals. Two of them by Nick Sherek ('00, Eagan), the Game Winner on a pretty pass from Eagan Teammate Ethan White ('00).

6 Standouts

Several players had great weekend's of hockey in Edina. Many new faces including kids from lesser known programs hit our radar. Here are six that stood out:

Kade Bender, Cloquet - has great quickness, possesses great skill on both ends of the rink.

Tyler Borsch, Maple Grove - strong defender, controlled play on every shift.

Stephen Doll, Edina - fast, highly skilled skater who really shined all weekend for District 6.

Jaxon Nelson, Luverne - great skater, hard shot...looked out of place due to talent disparity.

Dylan Schneider, Rochester - aggressive skater who gets better and better every time YHH sees him play.

Nick Sherek, Eagan - moved the puck well, hard nosed player.
