*Note: In Saturday's recap, YHH wrongfully published that Mahtomedi beat Moundsview/Irondale. The teams did not play on Saturday. YHH regrets the error.
OMG nets a goal in Sunday's championship win over Chaska/Chan.
Ethan Elias- Osseo/Maple Grove
Already a "Player to Watch" but worth another mention. Led all players with 36 goals and 13 assists for 49 total points.
Zach Reim- Moundsview/Irondale
Quietly racked up 25 goals over the weekend. Strong shot and high hockey IQ makes Reim a solid player to keep an eye on.
Jacob McPartland- Chaska/Chan
Had a huge day on Sunday to finish with 32 goals this weekend. Always seems to find holes in the defense and finishes his shots.
Joe Greniuk- Elk River
Built like a power forward and rarely loses a race to the puck. Also has well-developed backhand shot, a rarity (and major attribute) at this level.
Kyle Kukkonen- Osseo/Maple Grove
Big-time playmaker who enjoys obvious chemistry with his teammates. Very good communicator on the ice, with outstanding passing skills.
Andover scores in wild 18-13 win over Woodbury in the 3rd place game on Sunday
YHH spent three days watching these players strut their stuff from both the ice level and the skybox at the 3O3 Hockey and Training Center in Osseo.
What we saw was marked improvement each time a team stepped on the ice, from better spacing between teammates, better stick-handling from dozens of players, and a strong sense of anticipation that developed over the three days.
These skills are imperative when it comes to 5-on-5 play, and the 3O3 facility certainly gives players a place to hone those skills.
From experience covering games, game statistics are sometimes difficult to come by, but the 3O3 staff had EVERY player's stats recorded over the three days. Those numbers are absolutely imperative to providing quality coverage of these players.
Great venue, great people and great hockey.
That's the 3O3.
