If the standings of the Mississauga Border Battle are any indication, the talent level was off the charts this past weekend in Ontario.
Three teams all tied for first, with Honeybaked earning the overall title with the implication of tiebreakers.
Joining Honeybaked at the top of the standings were the Toronto Jr. Canadiens and the Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers. All three teams posted records of 4-1-0.
Honeybaked took its loss to the Hamilton Huskies by a score of 7-4 on Saturday, the Jr. Canadiens lost to Honeybaked 4-1 on Saturday, and Mid-Fairfield took its loss to the Jr. Canadiens 3-0, also on Saturday.
The only team to emerge after its five-game docket without a loss was the Ottawa Valley Titans, which defeated Little Caesars 4-3, Pittsburgh Penguins Elite 4-2 and Team Maryland 3-2. The Titans also earned ties with Compuware 1-1 and the South Shore Kings 3-3.

Jake Rozzi of the Lac-Saint-Louis Lions South led the tournament in both goals and overall points, scoring 11 times and adding three helpers for 14 points.
Rozzi’s best performances came in a 6-5 loss to the Alaska North Stars and a 7-1 win over the Colorado Thunderbirds, where he scored four goals for a Texas hatty in each game.
Aiden Castle racked up nine goals and 12 points for the Don Mills Flyers, Gavin Brindley totaled eight goals and 11 points for the Florida Alliance, and James Swan of the Lac-Saint-Louis Lions North recorded seven goals and 10 points to round out the group of players finishing in double-digits.
Overall champion Honeybaked relied on balance throughout the Border Battle, with six players scoring five or more points.
Frank Nazar ended as the Honeybaked leader with four goals and nine points, and Honeybaked’s Zach Filak tied for the tournament lead in assists (6) with Hamilton’s Florian Xhekaj.
The Mid-Fairfield Jr. Rangers remain at No. 2 behind Honeybaked in the most current YHH Staff Rankings, and the Rangers were led by Andon Cerbone’s six goals and eight points over the weekend.
