Edina's Sammy Walker has Team Southwest in first place as of Wednesday.

Max Jenrich notches goal for Northeast over the weekend against Great Plains.

Team Southwest, Team North Atop Standings

Team Southwest is currently on top of the Upper Midwest High School Elite League standings with a record of 5-2-2 thanks to the play of Edina standouts Sam Walker and Jett Jungels, who have totaled 17 and 10 points respectively. Minnetonka forward and Denver commit Bobby Brink has also recorded 10 points for Team Southwest.

Since starting the fall slate 5-0-0, Team North has since stumbled, dropping three of its past four games despite the hot start. Duluth East forwards Ricky Lyle and Garrett Worth are tied for the team-lead with 11 points each, followed by another Greyhound in Ryder Donovan with 10 points.

Tied for third are Team Southeast and Team Northwest, with Northwest's pair of ties pulling it even with Southeast despite having one less victory.

Eden Prairie's Jack Jensen (8-5-13) is taking care of Southeast's offense, while Rosemount goaltender Ben Garrity anchors the defensive side of the puck with four wins, tied for the league-lead with Southwest's Jackson Hjelle (Delano).

Griffin Ness, a Team Northwest mainstay now in his second season of the Elite League paces the team with eight goals and 13 points, with Elk River forward and Notre Dame commit Jack Perbix second on the team with 10 assists and 12 total points.

Team Northwest also boasts the best penalty kill percentage for teams playing at least nine games at 93%, tied with Team Great Plains.

The Elite League continues this coming weekend with two different slates of games being played in Fargo (ND) and Eau Claire (WI) Sept. 30-Oct. 1.

Demetrios Koumontizis currently leads all players with nine goals and 23 points in Elite League play.
