2017 Highlight Video

The Usual Suspects

Close yours eyes and take your mind back to 2014. Osseo-Maple Grove wins the Squirtacular title and goes undefeated. Brock Faber, Justin Janicke and Kyle Kukkonen were the center of attention. On Sunday, the threesome laid claim to the Co-Most Valuable Player award as the Leafbirds grabbed the association's first ever Battle for the Blue Ox title.

Other top players like Drew Holt and Luke Mittelstadt from Eden Prairie were standouts as well. On Sunday, these five and a few of their friends played an epic Bantam game game that over 2,000 people viewed online and hundreds more in person. The Leafbirds pulled out the win on a tip in goal by Chris Kernan.

Here is a short list of some of many of the top players we saw at the Ox last weekend.

Unsung Heroes

Cade Anderson (Cloquet) - two way player, who saw action up front and on the blue line for the Lumberjacks.

Carter Batchelder (Eden Prairie) - didn't ink the scoresheet, but plays a complete game...using his speed and physical play to help his team.

Chris Kernan (Osseo Maple Grove) - had five goals in the Blue Ox including the biggest goal of his young career, the game winner in OT to help his team to the W.

Adam Marshall (Wayzata) - clever player who makes a ton of plays with and without the puck.

Evan Murr (Stillwater) - talented defensemen took a big hit Friday - will miss some hockey but hopefully be back on the ice soon.

Henry Nelson (Osseo Maple Grove) - athletic defensemen who had his hand in both OMG goals in the championship.

Hayden Helgeson dominated the draws for the Grand Forks (ND) Aviators during the Blue Ox.
