Hockey For Life: Saturday Recap

Prior Lake, Elk River, Lakeville North close out the weekend with wins.

Game Two: Prior Lake 2, Chaska 1

Prior Lake scored once in the second and once in the third to earn a 2-1 win over Chaska in the second game of the Tradition Hockey For Life Classic's final day of competition. 

Sophomore forward and Wisconsin commit Shane Lavelle scored for Chaska early in the first period, a lead that was erased with a goal from Prior Lake's Preston Underhill with 5:52 to play in the second frame. 

Laz Kaebel broke the 1-1 deadlock with 7:45 to play in regulation, putting the Lakers ahead 2-1 with assists from Jackson Jutting and Colin Tushie. 

Despite taking the loss, Chaska goaltender Justin Bach finished the game with 29 saves, while Ryan Miller totaled 16 stops for Prior Lake. 


Rhett Pitlick made his Tradition Hockey For Life Classic debut for Chaska on Saturday.

Game Three: Elk River 7, Benilde-St. Margaret's 0

Elk River scored five times in the third period to put an exclamation point on its time in Prior Lake, thumping Benilde-St. Margaret's 7-0 in the third game of the Saturday slate. 

Sophomore Zach Michaelis led the way for the Elks with three goals, while junior forward and Notre Dame commit Jack Perbix dished out three assists in the win. 

Evan Junker, Joey Foss, Jay Rickard, and Griffin Young all tallied one goal each for the Elks, while goaltender Kyle Esperum totaled 19 saves to capture the shutout. 

Sophomore goaltender Cavan Slocum made 29 saves for the Red Knights in the loss. 


Kyle Esperum picked up the shutout on Saturday against Benilde-St. Margaret's.

Game Four: Lakeville North 6, Stillwater 2

Lakeville North thumped Stillwater 6-2 after scoring six consecutive goals in the finale of the Tradition Hockey For Life Classic in Prior Lake. 

Stillwater leaped out to a 2-0 lead on goals by Wyatt Wasko and Spencer Scott late in the first and early in the second period respectively before Lakeville North began its onslaught. 

Blake Brandt, Spencer Schneider, and Tommy Shandorf all scored for the Panthers in the second period to give Lakeville North the lead entering the final stanza, where the Panthers would tack on three more goals. 

Sam Enebak, Blake Brandt, and Luke Spanier each scored once in the third, with Enebak and Brandt's goals each coming off Stillwater miscues in its own zone. Spanier's tally came on an empty net.
