Allowing two goals in less than 30 seconds is rarely a good sign for any team at any level. Giving up those goals in the first five minutes of the game compounds the effect, typically sending the trailing team downhill into a robotic spiral.

Enter the Fox School of Hockey, which took its 2-0 disadvantage to heart en route to a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Blades in the Independent Classic's 2006 Invite Division championship.

Blaik Bork and John Hirschfield gave the Blades the aforementioned 2-0 lead early in the first period, with the deficit cut in half by Fox School's Matthew Lysak to make the score 2-1 after one period.

Fox would score twice to open the second frame, with Morgan Henderson and Cole Bodnar netting goals and giving Fox a 3-2 lead before the Blades' Brittan Alstead evened the game at 3-3 early in the third.

Lysak's second goal of the game would prove to be the winner, as he backhanded a shot through traffic from close range with 6:51 to play. Goaltender Carter George and the Fox School defense never allowed the Blades to get comfortable in the offensive zone with the goaltender pulled, and cemented the win with repeated zone-clearings.

In a game that mercifully went into running-time, and then allowed to expire without a final face-off, Team Attack cruised past the Midwest Devils 7-1, thanks in part to a quick start and three-goal first period.

Caeden Smith, Logan Opgrand, and Kyle Brazeau all tallied goals for Team Attack in the first period as the Devils racked up six penalties in the first frame alone.

Caleb Bendell and Easton Swift stretched the Team Attack lead to 5-0 in the second before Tanner Walos put the Devils on the board early in the third. Opgrand and Swift scored their second goals of the game in the third to give the contest its' eventual final score of 7-1.

2004 Invite Division

A scoreless opening period heightened the drama between Miracle Gold and the '05 Minnesota Blades in the 2004 Invite Division title game, with shutdown defense and solid goaltending took the spotlight.

Miracle Gold opened the scoring in the second period with a goal from Luke Steffen early and extended its lead to 2-0 on a goal by Finn Loftus eight minutes after Steffen's tally. William Whitelaw cut Miracle Gold's lead to 2-1 with just over three minutes to play in the third period, but Miracle Gold's Ryan Wallin stood tall enough to end the game in regulation with a victory.

Despite rolling over Miracle Gold on Saturday night 11-3, Gentry found its hands full on Sunday afternoon, as Miracle Gold rebounded from a 5-1 deficit with three straight goals before Gentry iced the game late in the third.

Chaz Lucius scored three times in the first period for Gentry, with a goal by Bennett Schimek sandwiched in between the Lucius' tallies. Tristan Tabucol put Miracle Gold on the board to make the score 3-1 before Lucius notched his third of the period.

David Kloeber pumped the Gentry lead to 5-1 early in the second period, which sparked Miracle Gold to a pair of goals by Tabucol and Henry Nelson to send the game into the third period with Gentry's lead cut to 5-3.

Joe Palodichuk pulled Miracle Gold within one at 5-4 with 6:27 left in the third, but Schimek's second goal of the game cemented the win for Gentry at 6-4.
