The playoffs shrink to two teams as White and Royal advance to the finals.

White's Sam Riegert (7) celebrates after closing the win with an empty-net goal on Wednesday night.

Game One: White 7, Red 5

Team White certainly has a flair for the dramatic.

The Red/Black High School Spring League's regular-season champions came out of the gates like a three-legged tortoise in Wednesday's night's semifinals, finding themselves down 5-0 to Red after 25 minutes of play.

No matter.

Jacob Hanson put White on the board 17 seconds into the second half, with following goals from Blake Harmer, Hanson again, Cooper Curti, and Quinn Rosenberg to tie the game at 5-5 with 10:01 remaining in regulation.

Following a series of kamikaze puck-cycles around the Red zone, Harmer scored his second goal on a fluttering shot with 1:33 left in the game, and Sam Riegert iced the win with an empty-net goal.

Jake Hankinson scored twice for Red in the loss, with single goals coming from Toby Curtiss, Austin McNeill, and Ben Stavros.

Toby Curtiss (14) scores for Red in Wednesday's loss to White.

Game Two: Royal 7, Black 5

Like the game before it, the second semifinal of Wednesday evening included an impressive comeback, as Royal scored six times in the second half to erase a 4-1 deficit and squeak past Black 7-5.

Jack Steussi, Austin Krebsbach, and Jalen Henkel scored in succession to give Black a 3-0 lead in the first half before Royals' Nick Blood pared the lead to 3-1 entering the second stanza.

Canyon Pergande stretched the Black lead to 4-1 just 57 seconds into the second half, apparently jump-starting the Royal offense. Royal would score the next six goals in the span of just over 16 minutes, with Zach Puterbaugh leading the way with two tallies. Also scoring in the barrage were Justen Williams, Ben Gerebi, Jake Inskeep, and Gavin Lindemann.

Henkel scored his second of the game to pull Black within two at 7-5, but Royal goaltender Jake Caron and the Royal defense shut down any comeback attempt in the final moments of play.

Jake Caron stopped all but two shots for Royal in the second half of Wednesday night's 7-5 win over Black.
