YES!!!

The headline that graced the Boston Globe the day after the Boston Red Sox ended a championship drought of 86 years now belongs to Team New England.

The on-paper tournament-favorite from the outset, with 11 combined players from the respective No. 1 and No. 8 teams in the country for the 2007-age group, battled through a penalty-ridden battle with Great Plains on Sunday morning, emerging victorious with a hard-fought 7-4 win over the No. 2 seed.

Midway through the second period, New England opened up a 4-1 lead, with two goals coming from Tournament Most Valuable Player Justin Graf and one each from Van Martin and Billy MacAusland. During that stretch, the lone Great Plains goal was scored by Mason Jenson.

Great Plains would go on to score the next three goals, as Andrew O'Neill, Jenson, and Cullen Ingebritson scored to send the game into the third period at 5-4. William Belle scored for New England to help offset the Great Plains barrage.

Egan Beverdige and Van Martin tacked on insurance goals for New England in the third period, icing the 7-4 win in the title game.
