The Pond Hosts 7th Annual Leprechaun Days

For the seventh consecutive year, The Pond Hockey Training Center in Rosemount has celebrated its town's Irish heritage with a three-on-three tournament, affectionately dubbed Leprechaun Days.

2018 offers another full schedule of fast-paced action, with high scores galore and plenty of opportunities for flashy plays on the smaller ice sheet and rare stoppages of play.

Wednesday ignited the tournament slate, with seven games being played, ranging from Peewees to Squirt B/C players with Mite games in between.

P.I.E.S. took the first Peewee game of the tournament with a 13-11 win over the Czech B team, with a trio of skaters all notching three goals in the win. Those players included Christian Garrity, Cade Sherman, and Jackson Ganser. Luca Salak scored three times in the loss for the Czech B team.

The final game of the night pitted the Rochester Knights against Faribault Hockey/Dodge County Hockey (FHDCH), in which the Knights slipped past FHDCH 12-8. Pacing the game in scoring was Rochester's Bennett Pronk, who tallied five goals in the win. Gryffon Funke led FHDCH with three goals in the loss.

In the Squirt B/C Division, the Jr. Eagles cruised to a 20-14 win over the Ice Cats, despite an inspired first-ever goaltending performance form the Ice Cats' Charlie Forester. Jackson Meier and Reed Smith teamed up to lead the Jr. Eagles to victory, with Meier scoring seven goals and Smith tallying six in the win. Gino Paolello led the Ice Cats with seven goals.

Corned Beef N' Cabbage downed Green Dash in the second Squirt B/C game, scoring nine straight goals after going down 3-0 en route to a 19-6 win. Leading the way in the victory for CBNC were Mason McDonald and Bauer Sullivan, who each scored five times. Green Dash's leading scorer for the game was Jacob Marsden and Ben Williams with two goals each.
