Leprechaun Days Rolls Into Day Two

The seventh annual Leprechaun Days continued in Rosemount on Thursday, as the 12U Division started its slate of games and the Squirt B/C and Peewee groups continued the torrid pace of play.

Crown Hockey bullied its way to a 24-5 win over the Spartacats in the first 12U game of the day, powered to victory by six-goal performances from Lily Fetch and Katie Brick. Ava Krikorian added five goals in the win, with Vivian Ferrell chipping in four scores of her own. Five Spartacats tallied goals in the loss.

Brooke Townsend scored twice late in the game to lift the Ice Hawks to a thrilling 8-7 win over the Ice Breakers in the second 12U matchup, tying the game at 7-7 and netting the game-winner minutes later. Townsend finished with three goals, tied for the game-high with Ice Breakers Annalee Holzer and Audrey Lange.

Thanks to a combined 11 goals from Reed Smith and Jackson Meier, the Jr. Eagles edged Corned Beef N' Cabbage 13-10 to start the Squirt B/C portion of the day. Smith tallied seven goals to lead all skaters, while Meier notched four. Vincent Staloch recorded three goals for Corned Beef N' Cabbage in the loss.

Joining the Jr. Eagles in the win column for the SQB/SQC Division was the Ice Cats, who scored early and often in an 18-7 win over Green Dash. The Ice Cats scored the first 10 goals of the game en route to the victory, with Gino Paolello pacing the game with six goals. Blake Pavek added five tallies in the win for the Ice Cats while Ben Williams scored four times for Green Dash.

P.I.E.S. moved to 2-0 for the Peewee Division of the tournament with a 16-4 win over the Knights of Rochester, as Carter Ganser racked up five goals in the process. Ganser now has seven goals in two games for P.I.E.S. Christian Garrity and Jackson Ganser each added three goals in the win. Luca Salak led the Knights of Rochester with three scores of his own.

The defense took center stage in the final game of the evening, as the Czech B team downed Faribault Hockey-Dodge County Hockey 15-5 to even its record at 1-1. Owen Durigan led all skaters with three goals for the Czech B team. Jake Nihort led FHDCH with a pair of tallies.
