The all 2004 birth year Great Plains team won two games Saturday to grab the Bantam Elite League regular season championship in St. Cloud. They beat Wisconsin in the morning and capped off the day with a convincing 8-4 win over the second-place Kings Saturday night.
As the regular season winds down, a lot will be still be determined on Sunday. Wisconsin and the North Stars face off for the seven and eight seeds for the playoffs next weekend in Minneapolis. North Dakota and the Kings take the ice Sunday for second place.
1. Jimmy Clark, Great Plains - the Edina native had four goals and two assists in two games for the league champions. Clark leads the well balanced GPs with 14 points in 11 games.
2. Christian Manz, Sharks - had another shutout in his half of play Saturday. His fifth straight game of not allowing a goal. The future Shattuck Sabre has a 1.14 goals against average and .965 save percentage.
3. Jaksen Panzer, North Dakota - had a huge game against the Penguins notching all four goals in their 4-2 win. The Grand Forks standout now has 20 points on the season.
