Southwest grabs both Boys titles, JM snags Major Girls and GR walks with Minor Girls

Holy Hannah...GR grabs Minor title!

Grand Rapids beat Southwest Sunday 4-3 at Bloomington Ice Garden to capture the Girls Minor title of the PeeWee Challenge. Hannah Christenson had two goals and an assist and goalie Elie Hancock and Taylor Kressin slammed the door to pace Grand Rapids to the win.

Key Play --> After Southwest closed the lead to 4-3 late in the game, the Grand Rapids defense blocked shots to seal the win. 

MVP --> Hannah Christenson was one of six players with six points to lead the PWC in scoring. Her inspired play and game winning goal earned her 2018 MVP honors.

Grand Rapids, 2018 Minor Girls Champs

Southwest rides the 9 Train to the title

Southwest knocked off Edina 6-4 Sunday grab the Minor Boys title of the PeeWee Challenge held at Bloomington Ice Garden Sunday. Ashton Schultz had five points including a hat trick and the game winning goal to clinch the game.

Key Play --> With a one goal lead, Southwest's Emmett Reiter got a loose puck in the neutral zone and found Schultz for a breakaway.

MVP --> Ashton Schultz had three 4+ point games against some high level competition in three days.

Southwest, 2018 Minor Boys Champs

JM wins in a shootout (again) to take Majors

John Marshall defeated Grand Rapids 4-3 in an overtime shootout Sunday to win the PeeWee Challenge in Bloomington Sunday. 

Key Play ---> With six minutes left in the game, Molly Pierce fired a shallow angle shot toward the net that ricocheted off a Grand Rapids defender into the net to send the game into overtime.

MVP --> Kaitlin Groess was in the net for all three shootout wins for the Rockets. After being announced MVP Sunday, she brought her goalie partner Gabriella Brisbois to the podium to share the award with her!

2018 Major Girls Champs, John Marshall

MAX DRIVES GR MAD, LIFTS SW TO MAJOR VICTORY

Southwest outlasted Grand Rapids Sunday 4-3 to claim the Major Boys  PeeWee Challenge at Bloomington Ice Garden. Max Plante had a goal and two assists to the purple and grey to the win. The second year in a row Plante's team has won the tournament and he was named MVP.

Key Play --> Late in the game with Grand Rapids pressing, Isaiah Paulnock made two huge saves to preserve the win for Southwest.

MVP --> Max Plante took the award...his sixth YHH MVP plaque (AAA State x2, Big Pumpkin, Western States and PeeWee Challenge x2).
