Will Esterbrooks (9) blocks a shot for Hermantown in the Hawks' 4-3 shootout win over Eden Prairie.

Chaska/Chanhassen Tames Stillwater 5-3

Despite a late goal by Simon Seidl to pull Stillwater within two, Chaska/Chanhassen owned both puck-possession and the scoreboard en route to a 5-3 win over the Ponies.

Late goals in the first period by Chaska/Chanhassen's Jack Christ and Stillwater's Cole Jackson sent the game into a 1-1 tie entering the second stanza, where the Stormhawks' consistent pressure allowed them to take a two-goal lead. Adam Kleber scored on a cannon of a shot from the top of face-off circle that beat Stillwater goaltender Lucas Schanno cleanly. Christ tallied his second goal of the game to stretch the Chaska/Chanhassen lead to 3-1 after two periods.

An awkward seesaw followed in the third, with the teams trading goals for a full 15 minutes. Chaska/Chanhassen extended its lead to 4-1 with a goal from Nick Patka, a score evened less than three minutes later by Stillwater's Blaine Batchelor. Down two heading into the final 90 seconds of regulation, Stillwater pulled Schanno for an extra attacker, allowing Chaska/Chanhassen's Javon Moore to secure an empty-net goal to make the score 5-2. The Ponies got a goal from Simon Seidl to make the score its final at 5-3.

Ashton Schultz dished out two assists in Chaska/Chanhassen's win over Stillwater.

Hermantown Flies Past Woodbury 6-1

In a rematch of last year's Peewee AA State Tournament championship, Hermantown exacted revenge against Woodbury, jumping out to a 2-0 lead after the first period and maintaining maximum pressure for a 6-1 win over the defending state champion Predators.

Rocco Ericksen and Dallas Vieau scored for Hermantown in the first period, as the Hawks capitalized on their offensive opportunities and blitzed the Woodbury zone for the first 15 minutes. Will Esterbrooks continued his strong day with a goal to open the second frame for the Hawks, followed by a fourth tally by River Freeman on a slick backhand shot.

Lucas Mann converted a highlight-reel goal in the third period for the Predators, weaving between two Hermantown defensemen and beating Hawks' goaltender Brody Matthews with a pinpoint wrist-shot. After several minutes of amplified pressure by the Predators, Woodbury pulled its netminder in an attempt to monopolize the momentum, but Josh Kauppinen and Max Plante potted empty-netters to cement the win for Hermantown.

River Freeman (17) scores for Hermantown in the Hawks' win over Woodbury.

Simon Seidl leads Stillwater into the Black Bracket third-place game with eight total points.
