In a total of three minutes and five seconds, Luke Giuliani scored two goals and wrote himself into the Lumberjack Cup record books. 

Giuliani scored with five seconds remaining in the third period, jamming a puck past Chaska-Chanhassen goaltender Adam Kimbrel to force overtime after Kimbrel and the Stormhawks had been perfect for nearly three full periods. Giuliani’s first goal tied the game at 1-1 after Tanner Bruender had put the Stormhawks ahead 1-0 with 9:42 remaining in regulation.

On his second shift of a running-time extra session, Giuliani took the ice to kill a penalty late in overtime, forced a turnover at his blue line, and outraced Chaska-Chanhassen’s Gavin Uhlenkamp into the Stormhawk zone before burying a wrist shot. 

Giuliani was named the Lumberjack Cup’s Peewee AA Division Most Valuable Player for his efforts. 

Despite combining for 12 penalties over three periods, Sibley and Stillwater battled through a relatively efficient game, with the Warriors coming out on top by the unassuming score of 3-0.

Jack Staples scored twice for the Warriors, the first two goals of the game, both in the second period. Bryce Blake assisted on the first tally, continuing the success of the Sibley top line of Ryan Madigan, Staples, and Blake.

Preston Gamer notched a final goal for the Warriors in the third period, while goaltender Brady Altier shut down the Pony attack to earn the shutout.

Perhaps the greatest testament to the Warriors’ title was its defense and penalty-killing unit, which killed off five Stillwater power play opportunities by blocking shots and crowding passing lanes throughout the championship win.
