New Year's Day featured the final games of the Tradition Co. Edina Invitational at Braemar Ice Arena.

Chaska-Chanhassen celebrates one of its seven goals in Tuesday's win over Minnetonka in the PWAA finals of the Edina Invite.

PWAA: Chaska-Chanhassen 7, Minnetonka 0

Chaska-Chanhassen was held scoreless in the third period, but fortunately for the Stormhawks, they had already done enough damage in the first two frames. The Stormhawks scored four times in the first period and three more in the second to take home the PWAA crown of the Tradition Edina Invitational.

Chaska-Chanhassen scored in three different on-ice situations in the first period, tallying two goals at even-strength and once each on the power play and while shorthanded. In a testament to the Stormhawks’ depth, four players scored in the first, with Ashton Schultz, Javon Moore, Tanner Bruender, and Tyler Smith all marking the scoresheet.

Bruender and Smith scored their second goals in the second period, with an Adam Kleber goal sandwiched between the scores. With the game in running-time, the third period went by painlessly, with zero goals scored between the two teams.

BA: Rogers 3, Osseo-Maple Grove 2

Osseo-Maple Grove scored with 2:48 remaining to pull within one goal at 3-2, but Rogers held on for a one-goal victor and the Tradition Invite’s Bantam A title on Sunday.

Owen Erikson scored back-to-back goals for the Royals in 22 seconds to give Rogers a 2-1 lead in the first, before Keegan Cavanaugh extended the lead to 3-1 by scoring with just under seven minutes left in the first period. Nathan Jaglo scored the second goal for the Leafbirds, while Jay Ellingson notched the opening tally.

Now at 29-5-1, Rogers maintains its No. 1 ranking in the YHH Bantam A Staff Rankings. The Royals have won 17 straight games since losing to the Leafbirds 3-2 on Nov. 25. The loss snaps a nine-game winning streak for Osseo-Maple Grove.

Owen Erikson scored two goals for Rogers in the Royals' 3-2 win over Osseo-Maple Grove.

BAA: Edina 2, Wayzata 1 (OT)

In a repeat of the Spirit of Duluth Bantam AA finals played in the port city precisely one month ago, Edina edged Wayzata for the Tradition Invite championship. Cashen Naeve scored at the 6:12 mark of the first period to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead over the Hornets, a 1-0 advantage evened in the second period on a goal by Edina’s Prescot Sexton.

The teams battled through the third period to no avail, entering an extra session before first-year Bantam Caden Morgan ended the game for the Hornets. With the win, the Hornets move to 22-3-1 on the season and have not lost Dec. 8. Coincidentally, that loss came against the Trojans.

Edina claimed its home tournament title with a 2-1 win in overtime over Wayzata.
