Predators show grit and come from behind and win Sunday

EP's Jackson Blake had a Hatty Sunday for the Eagles in a losing cause

The Woodbury Predators Squirt A team didn’t let playing from behind keep them down against Eden Prairie on Sunday night.

The Predators faced two-goal deficits at three different stages of the Prairie Shootout Squirt A championship game, eventually rallying to win the game and take the title with 6-4 win.

Woodbury was also able to overcome Eden Prairie dynamo Jackson Blake, who swooped and slithered through the Woodbury defense on numerous end-to-end rushes, and finished with three goals in the loss.

On display Sunday was Woodbury’s power play unit, as they went three-for-six with the man advantage, including an empty net goal that finished off Eden Prairie with 27 seconds left in the game.

Woodbury’s Dylan Godbout notched the game-winning goal, patiently maneuvering the puck close to to the Eden Prairie net and then flipping it over sprawling Eagles’ goalie Alec Aldrich. Godbout finished the game with two goals and an assist for the Predators, earning him the honor of being the LotzzaMotzza Player of the Game.

Woodbury also got goals from Attila Lippai, Brady Ingebritson, Drew Fisher, and Jake Sondreal. In addition to Blake, Tyler Wrobleski also scored for Eden Prairie.

With the win, SQA third-ranked Woodbury moves to 9-1 on the season, while eighth-ranked Eden Prairie drops to 7-2.
