Before the AAA season kicks off officially in April the all star events take place in late March. YHH will cover each of the most prominent events this weekend, the Selects in St. Cloud and the Super Series in Plymouth.
Here is a short set of predictions of how we see the events ending on Sunday.
Hudson's Isaac Howard scores this Winter in the YHH Squirtacular
Major PeeWee: West > South...West is stacked higher than a Denny's Grand Slam (Zabinski, Streeter, Boltman, and Oberle...)
Minor PeeWee: East > North...Cruz and Chaz Lucius plus Jack Harvey should put the East into Beast Mode.
Major Squirt: East > West...Isaac Howard and Drew Fisher will be tough to match. Watch out for the Moore (Oliver and Howard) brothers from Mounds View Irondale on the East.
Minor Squirt: West > South...The Steffen twins Landon and Luke will be double trouble for the West opponents. Watch out for the West's Wyatt Olson from OMG, he was the YHH Squirtacular MVP this past Winter.
Jack Harvey from North Branch goes top shelf this Winter for the Vikings
05: East > North...Whitelaw (Rosemount) and Sylvester (Sibley) are a dangerous duo for the East. We liked Kade Kohanski from Hermantown at the Squirtacular, the North will gel late in this tournament.
04: East > The Field...Coach Jason Godbout has the best team in the entire tournament. He may have to petition for an extra puck to keep his players happy. A cast of super stars on all three sides of the ice. Defense: Chesley, Kluender and Hause. Forwards: everyone except Toews and Kane. Goalie: Dardis
03: South > North...this field is loaded. Not one weak team in this lot. Hats off to all four coaches for a great job of attracting the best players from all over the state. North has Jack Peart, Gavin Gunderson and Damon Furuseth..wow. The South will rise again with Alex Bump, Tyler Haskins and Jackson Borst. The West will be won with Brandon Reller, Blake Johnson and Connor Kurth. The East won't be least with players like Joe Palodichuk, Cody Croal, and Anton Castro in the nets. Flip a coin on who wins this one.
02: West > East...two loaded squads, the East has a great group lead by Mitchell Kohner, Jonny Meiers and Lleyton Roed, The West is just as good, possibly better with Ryan Mulrenin, Kyle Kukkonen, and Ethan Cumming. A great matchup Friday morning.
01: North > East....A lot of great individual players, many were stars as older '01s in PeeWees (Miller/Greenway and Gleason/St. Paul) and others like Cullen Vinar will star next year as second year Bantams. The North team seems to have size and lots of skill...slight edge to the 218.
Rochester's Tyler Haskins scores this Winter for the Rockets.
