The Millennials take to the ice Friday


Cloquet's Landon Langenbrunner scores one of his 2 Goals Friday

Phase 3 of the six phase High Performance program kicked off Friday in Plymouth. The 2000 birth year players will play three games against evenly matched teams, one each day to find out who will be chosen to the Phase 4 Camp in St. Cloud. Over the course of the weekend, High Performance volunteers will narrow the list of 240 players to 102. The list of 102 will likely be released as soon as Monday by MN Hockey.

D6 > D8 (6-1)


South St. Paul's Matt Gellerman from D8

District 6 outskated and outscored District 8 in a nice win for the West Side. Six different scorers scored found the net for D6. Jack Bayless was the only D6 player with multiple points with two assists. 

Players that stood out were Demetrious Koumontzis, Bayless and Ryan Lesko for D6 and Matt Gellerman and Brendan McFadden for D6.

The win for D6 avenges earlier Phase 2 scrimmage wins by D8.

D11 > D12 (4-3)


Cloquet's Landon Langenbrunner

District 11 edged District 12 4-3 in a battle of two northern teams. 2014 Wiz Wyatt Finalist Landon Langenbrunner from Cloquet had two goals and Duluth East Bantam Nick Lanigan had 1G/1A for D11. 

Trailing 4-0, District 12 made a late comeback bid in the second half, coming up short. Virginia's Jake Seitz had 1G/1A to lead D12. Stars Gavin Hain and Blake Mclaughlin each added a goal for D12.

Lanigan had a nice game for the winners, catching the eye of the experts with his size and speed. Langenbrunner was equally impressive with his strength and nose for the net.

D3 > D9 (5-1)

Trevor Janicke had 2G/1A to lead District 3 to an impressive win over District 9. Janicke did it all Friday, setting up teammates, winning puck battles and scoring in tight spaces. District 3 also got goals from Tyler Borsch, Charlie Ankeny and Ryan Brandt. Lucas Newman was the lone goal scorer for Southern Minnesota's District 9.

Janicke, linemates K'Andre Miller and Jordan Randall all had dominating performances. Jack Cusey from Mankato who played Varsity for Mankato East was awesome in the pipes on Friday, robbing D3 of several golden opportunities.

D5 > D15 (3-1)


Garrett Freeman scores for D5 Friday

Sartell's Garrett Freeman had 1G/1A to lead District 5 to a 3-1 win over District 15 Friday in Plymouth. Freeman, who played Bantam A for the Sabres had a pretty move to score in the second half to ice the game for Central Minnesota's D5. 

Jonathan Terwisscha from River Lakes had a shutout in the second half for D5. Isaac Howe scored for District 15, the Bantam from Moorhead had a nice game. As did fellow first year Spud Ethan Frisch.

D2 > D4 (6-0)


Devlin McCabe

Devlin McCabe had 2 Goals to lead District 2 to a convincing 6-0 win over District 4. McCabe showed patience with the puck and great ice awareness. Mahtomedi's Aiden Pearson and Forest Lake's Jackson Wille each had a pair of assists. 

Forest Lake forward Brady Meyer showed impressive hands and speed for District 2. Atticus Kelly and Andy Beran both played well for the East siders, each earning shutouts.

D10 > D16 (7-2)


Mick Rynerson from Blaine scores one of his 2 Goals Friday.

It was the Blaine show as District 10 beat District 16, 7-2 on six goals by Bengal players Friday in Plymouth. Mick Rynerson, Will Hillman, and Bryce Brodzinski each had a pair of goals for the Green Machine. 

The Northwest suburban boys from D10 jumped out to a 5-0 lead at the half and cruised to an easy win over the Northwest MN players from D16. Besides the big three from Blaine, D10 got great goaltending from Jake Sibell (Providence) and Travis Allen (Centennial). Dylan Egeland (East Grand Forks) and Nicholas Mannausau (Bemidji) each tallied goals for D16 in a loss.
