The early games at the State of Hockey Showdown Thursday were high scoring with the '04 Magicians knocking off Easton Synergy 8-1. The Magicians got a four goal performance by Jackson Vogel, including three in the first period as the Red and Black had way too many tricks up their sleeves for the Synergy.

The Yuro Stars outscored the Magicians 12-6 at the '07 level. Conrad Fondrk had three goals and two assists for the Stars. Jacob Faith pitched in two goals for the Magic. At times in the game the Magicians made it close, but each time the Stars would answer with a flurry of their own including a four goal run to start the third period.

In a game where two goals were scored, it was the goaltending that stood out. 

Trevor Boschee of the Magicians Red out-dueled his New Generation counterpart Ethan Dahlmeir and earned the 2-0 shutout, helping Magicians Red defend against four New Generation power plays.

Joseph Carnevale and Sam Rice were the goal-scorers for Magicians Red.

The '06 Icemen downed '06 Magicians Red 3-2 in their own nail-biting win, holding off a late charge by Magicians Red.

Eli Wells scored two goals for Icemen, with Mason Stenger chipping in a single tally. Evan Pruse and Kaden Brink notched goals for Magicians Red. 

Friday will be the true start to the Showdown, with numerous games taking place at the Eden Prairie Community Center, Bloomington Ice Garden and Richfield Ice Arena.

Recorded a goal for the Icemen, and controlled the game with his hands and feet.

Stud goaltender Boschee stood on his head in the shutout win over New Generation, displaying a slick glove and serious grit.

Smooth skating defenseman took over the game every time he hit the ice -- had three goals and four points Thursday.

Vogel has great speed and hands - was virtually unstoppable all night for the Magicians.
