Full quarterfinal coverage from seven sites around the state

Friday was Best

A great day of hockey all over the state. YHH was in six places Friday and saw some epic games - including two of the longest games of the year in Marshall. Osseo Maple Grove beat Cloquet in four overtimes and it took six extra sessions for Blaine to beat Eden Prairie Friday night! Here is a quick look at some other things we noticed along the way.

Best Name - Hammer Slukynsky, Warroad...can only imagine how many times he's heard the phrase "hammer time"?

Best Night's Sleep - Steve Pesek, MSBN...the play-by-play (and color commentating) voice of all four Bantam AA games in Marshall. He put in some overtime on Friday.

Best Hair - Litchfield Dassel Cokato...hair for hair the best group we've ever seen. One great hockey philosopher once said, "hockey and hair go together like peanut butter and jelly."

Best Stat Line - Maddie Kaiser, Andover...she had five goals and four assists for the Huskies Friday in Cloquet.

Best Crowd - Mound Westonka...similar to Elk River in 2014, the Whitehawks had a full fan bus. They didn't just come for the pulled pork at Fogerty, they came to cheer with fun chants like "You Can't Do That."

Best tourney uniform (originality) - Edina Bantam B (Green)....a full black ensemble with a nice touch of camoflauge.

Best tourney uniform (tribute) - Edina PeeWee A....the Hornets busted out replica 1969 jerseys to commemorate the high school team's first ever state title (see Willie Johnson in PeeWee A).

Best Game (Regulation) - JCNSP over Warroad...down 3-1 in the third, Warroad peppered JCNSP goalie Damian VanDanacker with 14 shots (37 total) but could not score, losing 3-2.

Best Goalie - Parker Slotsve, Osseo Maple Grove...made three or four ridiculous saves in Leafbirds four overtime win over Cloquet.
