Lakeville North, Minnetonka, Moorhead, and St. Thomas Academy kick off the 2017-2018 season.

Nov. Tournament Helps Open The Season

The first weekend of the boys’ hockey season begins the weekend of Nov. 24 and 25, and four of the state’s premier programs will compete in the inaugural version The Opener, presented by Youth Hockey Hub. 

2015 Class 2A state champion Lakeville North, Minnetonka, 2016 Class 2A state runner-up Moorhead, and St. Thomas Academy will battle in Bloomington over the opening weekend, with each team’s varsity and junior varsity squads playing two games.

Combined, the four teams participating in The Opener have made 12 Class 2A State Tournament appearances since 2009.

Varsity games will be played on Bloomington Ice Garden’s Rink 1, while junior varsity tilts will take place on Rink 3.  

All four varsity games will be live-streamed on Youth Hockey Hub free of charge
