Four games broke in the second weekend of Bantam Elite League action for the 2019 season, as the teams descended on the Richfield Ice Arena before trekking north next week to Duluth.
Close games ruled the day, as the Bolts edged the upstart Rangers 3-2 behind a goal and assist by Player of the Game Joey Sylvester. Sylvester notched the first goal of the game to give the Bolts a 1-0 lead early in the first half, a frame dominated by the Bolts. Jake Fisher and Coltin Johnson added tallies to give the Bolts a 3-1 lead heading into the second half, with a Zach Boren goal putting the Rangers on the board. Luke Giuliani pulled the Rangers within one with less than three minutes to go in the game, but the Bolts handled the late barrage to earn their second win of the BEL season.
Team Wisconsin needed a shootout to escape the Kings, as the boys from the Badger State allowed back-to-back Kings' goals in the second half to force the extra session. Quinn Finley continued his strong start for Team Wisconsin with two goals and an assist, with single goals coming from Caden Schmirler and Braydon Beahm. Carter Daul dished out two assists in the win for Team Wisconsin. Gavyn Thoreson scored twice for the Kings and Lucas Margeneau and Justin Lesser chipped in one goal each in the loss.
A five-goal first half powered the Bruins to a solid 6-3 win over Team North Dakota, with the golden boys scoring the game's first four goals of the game in the win. Lucky Bischoff inked the scoresheet with two goals and a helper, with Finn Brink adding two goals and Hayden Konik posting a single score. Jack Ohlund handed out a trio of assists for the Bruins in the win. Landon Carter and Mason Reynolds each scored once for Team North Dakota, with Dawson McCann leading the team with two scores.
Abe Carlson scored two goals and earned an assist as the North Stars topped the Penguins 4-2 in the final game of the evening to earn their first win in BEL play. In addition to Carlson, Wyatt Carlson (no relation) and Aaron Reierson added goals for the North Stars, while Austin Burnevik and Harper Bentz recorded goals for the Penguins. Will Ingemann sparkled while stopping 41 of 43 shots between the pipes for the North Stars, playing the entire game.
