MPH wins Peewee crown while the Minnesota Stars reigned supreme in the Squirt A Division.

SQA: Minnesota Stars 10, Green Grinches 3

The Minnesota Stars scored in batches of four on Wednesday evening to pull away from the Green Grinches for a 10-3 win in the Squirt A Division championship of the New Year's Challenge, hosted by The Pond Hockey Training Center in Rosemount. 

With the teams knotted at 1-1 early in the game, the Stars embarked on their first four-goal run, with Henry Meier scoring twice and single goals coming from Hayden Wagner and Braden Bois. The Green Grinches stopped the bleeding momentarily on a goal by Jack Bryntesen, but the Stars answered with five of the game's next six tallies, including the last four of the game. 

Henry Meier netted three goals in the win for the Minnesota Stars, as did Riley Koch. For his efforts, Meier was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player, racking up 17 goals in five games.

PW: MPH 16, Puck Heads 12

Wednesday marked the third time that MPH has topped the Puck Heads during the New Year's Challenge, and the third time that the winning team has recorded 16 goals in the victory. 

After wins of 16-15 and 16-12 over the Puck Heads, MPH kept up their winning ways with a 16-12 win over their adversaries to capture the Peewee Division title. MPH showed off its balances in the victory with every player contributing, led by Carson Steinhoff's four goals. Cole Cheeseman and Tournament MVP Daylin Cline each notched three goals in the win.

MPH totaled an absurd number of goals during the tournament, scoring 127 times over a five-game span.
