The facility that houses the youth and high school programs of Blaine and Spring Lake Park, plus the Four Seasons Curling Club, needs financial donations to avoid closure.

Fogerty Ice Arena and the Four Seasons Curling Club are staples of the North Metro athletic community.

DONATION LINK PROVIDED AT BOTTOM OF RELEASE

The community that gave birth to Fogerty Arena never could’ve imagined it would be threatened by a virus. A rally of community support is needed again to keep the doors open and the ice frozen. Almost 40 years ago, a large group of parents and grandparents from Blaine and Spring Lake Park came together to realize a dream of building an indoor hockey rink. They set out with a grassroots fundraiser by selling small blue bricks….the “I Bought A Brick” program. That program became an immense success and reach all over the North Metro. With the help of that initial fundraiser, the arena dream came true. In the fall of 1982, a ton of sweat and hard work by many volunteer laborers, the doors opened.

Today, in 2020, we’re conceded the doors may need to close because of the pandemic.

Since its inception, this facility is home to Blaine and Spring Lake Park Youth Hockey Associations and High School Hockey Programs. In 2013, the facility expanded to include the fastest growing Olympic sport, curling, as well as a full-service restaurant.

In just seven years, the Four Seasons Curling Club has grow to roughly 600 members, has served as the Olympic training site for the sport, and has hosted numerous national and international championship events including a number of national televised events.

Fogerty has ben a source of pride and a local asset since inception, thanks to the community that supports it. Thanks to you.

Today, things look bleak because of COVID-19’s devastation on business like Fogerty. But the community spirit is alive.

We’re asking today for financial help to keep the doors open during the pandemic. Most staff have been sent home until activities resume. But, the water pipes in the building need heat, and the ice sheets need cold.

Please join with your neighbors, youth sports supporters, curling enthusiasts, and leaders who believe we need affordable local athletics to keep our community string. Please consider a financial donation before year-end.

There are many reasons to help today. Give in memory of the people who built the arena. Give because youth sports mattered to you growing up. Give because you care about tourism and economic development in the North Metro.

Please give so Fogerty can continue the tradition built on local pride.
