Sections 1AA and 3AA get underway in quarterfinals, while Section 7AA's Northern Tier wins a play-in game to remember.

Section 1AA

Olivia Herzog scored her 16th goal of the season in overtime to lift No. 6 seed Owatonna to an upset win over third-seeded Farmington.

(1) Lakeville South 11, (8) Rochester Century/John Marshall 0

Lakeville South's stars came out to play last night, as Wisconsin commit Claire Enright recorded five goals and six points, Minnesota State commit Taylor Otremba added a hat trick and an assist, and Ryann Wright tallied a pair of goals. Ella Fowler also scored for the Cougars.

(4) Lakeville North 6, (5) Dodge County 3

A three-goal outburst early in the first 12 minutes of the third period powered Lakeville North to a pull-away victory over Dodge County, giving the Panthers their third consecutive victory heading into the section semifinals.

Gracie Hanson's hat trick carried the day for the Panthers, while Shay Swanson, Hannah Weckman, and Alexa Ruppert chipped in single goals. Ashley Wagenbach racked up four assists in the win for Lakeville North.

McKenzie Rich, Abby Zeitler, and Natalie Ahern each scored once in the loss for Dodge County.

(6) Owatonna 3, (3) Farmington 2 (OT)

One of two games to upset the chalk on Wednesday night, Owatonna slipped past defending Section 1AA champion Farmington in overtime thanks to Olivia Herzog's 16th goal of the season.

Ezra Oien and Molly Achterkirch also scored for the Huskies, while goaltender Ava Wolfe turned in a stunning 37-save performance between the pipes.

Ava Johnson and Sam Moehle scored one goal apiece for the Tigers in the loss.

This will be the first Class AA State Tournament that doesn't feature Farmington since 2018.

(2) Northfield 10, (7) Rochester Mayo 0

Northfield made quick work of the Spartans, scoring four times in the first period and adding five more in the second and a singleton in the third for a 10-0 victory.

Emerson Garlie and Grace McCoschen led the way with two goals each for the Raiders, who also got goals from Ayla Puppe (five total points), Mia Miller, Cambria Monson (four total points), Megan Snyder, Isabelle Stephes, and eighth-grader Ashlyn Paukert.

Paukert's goal was the first of her career.

Lakeville South's Taylor Otremba notched a hat trick in Wednesday's win over Rochester Century/John Marshall.

Section 3AA

Burnsville's Sami Bowlby surpassed the 100-point mark for her career on Wednesday.

Section 3AA

(1) Burnsville 6, (8) Park 0

Quinnipiac commit Sami Bowlby registered her 100th career point somewhere between her goal and three assists on Wednesday night, as Burnsville blanked Park 6-0.

In addition to Bowlby, Zoie Dundon, Addie Bowlby, and Katie Katzmarek each scored once for the semifinal-bound Blaze.

Despite taking the loss, Park goaltender Tori Stepka impressed, making 40 saves for the Wolfpack.

(5) Apple Valley 3, (4) Eastview 0

Apple Valley junior goaltender Taylor Cozy has announced her presence for the 2022 postseason.

Cozy made 41 saves on Wednesday in the Eagles' 3-0 win over Eastview, earning the second straight shutout for the Eagles after finishing the regular season with a 1-0 win over Eagan. Cozy has made 64 consecutive saves over the two games.

Scoring one goal each for the Eagles were Avery Ryan, Makayla Moran, and Mikayla Coleman.

(2) Cretin-Derham Hall 7, (7) Hastings 1

The Raiders tied a season-high in goals with seven on Wednesday night, netting four of those in the first period en route to victory over the opposing Raiders.

Abby Broz scored twice for CDH, with single goals coming from Alida Ahern, Ari Evans, Sammy Quetzal, Lily Anderson, and Ryan Sherry. Standout goaltender Hannah Fritz stopped 23 of 24 shots for the Raiders.

Lauren Hubbart scored the lone goal of the loss for Hastings.

(3) Rosemount 4, (6) Eagan 2

After going 2-4 to conclude the regular season, Rosemount has bounced back with a 4-2 win over Eagan in the Section 3AA quarterfinals, setting up a date with Cretin-Derham Hall in the semifinal round.

Sure-to-be Ms. Hockey nominee Whitney Tuttle notched a goal and an assist for the Irish, pushing her season totals to 37 goals and 68 points, while Joey Edgar, Brooke Pomeroy, and Ava Webster each scored once. Pomeroy's goal was her first of the season.

Maria Cooper and Jaycee Bauman were the goal-scorers in the loss for Eagan, but junior goaltender Lucy Whitehead stole the show with 50 saves on 53 shots for the Wildcats. Even in the loss, Whitehead's performance drew rave reviews.

Hannah Fritz stopped 23 of 24 shots in Cretin-Derham Hall's win over Hastings.

Section 7AA

Northern Tier 3, Princeton 2 (2OT)

Double-overtime? 83 total shots? Winner gets to face No. 1-AA Andover?

Wednesday's roller-coaster between Northern Tier and Princeton may go down in the history books (if they're not banned by then) as one of the most exciting Play-In games of our time.

Eden Dixon put Princeton ahead 1-0 after the first period, an advantage erased by a goal from Northern Tier's Samantha Olson late in the second. Less than five minutes later, Princeton's Alyna Coe struck, giving the Tigers a 2-1 lead heading into the third frame.

With 42 seconds to play in regulation, Northern Tier's Jenna Hari (who assisted on Olson's goal) tied the score and sent the contest into extra innings.

Jaden Kozak tallied the game-winner for Northern Tier, spoiling a 60-save performance from Princeton goaltender Shelby Ulm. Wednesday was the second time in three games that Ulm reached the 60-save mark.
