Player: Finn Brink

College commitment: Wisconsin 

The crafty forward helped Maple Grove to a runner-up finish at last year's Class AA State Tournament and has taken on more responsibility this season after the graduation of Josh Giuliani and the USHL departure of Landen Gunderson. 

Brink has responded by leading the Crimson in goals with 26 and points with 58. The Crimson is seeded second in Section 5AA. 

Player: Chase Cheslock 
Team: Rogers 
College commitment: St. Thomas 

The hulking defenseman, who stands 6-foot-3 and over 200 pounds, represents the beating heart of a rising Rogers program that should be a north metro power for years to come. 

Cheslock has four goals and 28 points for the Royals, who are the top seed in Section 5AA with a chance to make the first Class AA State Tournament appearance in program history. 

Player: Cooper Conway 
Team: Andover 
College: Colorado College

Perhaps the most accurate shooter in the state, Conway's laser beams have found the back of the net 39 times this season, tops on the defending Class AA state champion Huskies. His 37 assists give him 76 points on the season, which ranks second behind fellow Mr. Hockey semifinalist Gavyn Thoreson. 

Player: Tommy Cronin
Team: St. Thomas Academy 
College commitment: Colgate 

A three-year varsity contributor, Cronin has taken his game to new heights this season, pacing the Cadets with 26 goals and 50 points through 25 games. 

One of eight seniors on the St. Thomas Academy roster, Cronin will look to lead the Cadets to the state tournament as the No. 1 seed in Section 3AA. 

Player: Jake Fisher 
Team: Cretin-Derham Hall
College commitment: Northern Michigan 

The Northern Michigan commit leads the Raiders in scoring with 31 goals and 56 points, setting career highs in both categories as of Feb. 21. As of this writing, Fisher has recorded at least one goal in his last six games, and the crafty forward has scored two or more goals in an impressive 11 times this season through 26 games.

Player: Tyler Hennen 
Team: Kittson County Central 
College commitment: Augustana (S.D.)

Hennen leads the state in goals with 71 and total points with 123. With at least one more game remaining on his schedule, Hennen is within striking distance of Minnesota's all-time record for goals in a season.

Hennen is currently two goals behind Ben Hanowksi, who recorded 73 tallies in 31 games for Little Falls during the 2008-2009 season.

Player: Ryan Koering
Team: Eden Prairie 
College commitment: Colorado College 

As steady as they come on the blue line, Koering has been a critical piece of the Eagles' season, including wins over prominent teams Duluth East and Benilde-St. Margaret's. Koering has six goals and 14 points this season, and is widely considered one of the state's top shutdown defensemen. 

Player: Sam Ranallo 
Team: Rogers
College commitment: N/A

It's a tired analogy, but Rannallo provides the lightning to Cheslock's thunder in the Rogers lineup. His speed and skill are evident from the moment he touches the ice for warmups, and his skating ability is game-altering. 

Ranallo leads the Royals with 21 goals and 52 points, and he's helped the next generation of Royal standouts adjust to the varsity level, with sophomores Mason Jenson and Parker Deschene registering 41 and 38 points, respectively. 

Player: Jayson Shaugabay 
Team: Warroad
College commitment: Minnesota Duluth

Shaugabay has led the Warriors to an undefeated regular season and a win so far in the Section 8A playoffs, and the Warriors seem poised for another run to the Class A State Tournament championship game this March.

Should they advance that far, Shaugabay is all but guaranteed to surpass the 300-point mark for his career, a threshold he surely would have already crossed were it not for the COVID-shortened 2020-2021 season.

This season, Shaugabay leads the Warriors in goals (31), assists (52), and points (83).

Gavyn Thoreson
Team: Andover 
College commitment: St. Cloud State

Thoreson has set a career-high this season with 34 goals for the Huskies, and his 79 total points lead the defending Class AA state champions heading into the second round of playoffs. Thoreson is particularly productive on the power play, scoring six times and adding 15 assists with the man advantage this season. 

While the vast majority of the high school skaters could only dream of a five-point game, Thoreson has reached that number seven times as of Feb. 21.
