Recent Class A State Tournament teams Northfield and New Prague have been placed in Section 1AA, where Northfield could challenge for a section title next season should the Raiders remain where they’re currently slotted.

Simley in Section 1A? Former Section 6A stalwarts Willmar and River Lakes in Section 2A? Those moves look like head-scratchers on paper, and will likely be up for debate as we get closer to the hockey season. Big wait-and-see vibes from some of these placements based on geography.
Blake moving down to Section 4A isn’t crazy. The Bears should be better positioned to compete at the A level considering the production they lose to graduation (three Division I players). In addition to the Bears, Holy Angels adds talent and intrigue to Section 4A. The Stars fell to eventual state runner-up Orono in last season’s Section 5A finals.
