Big day at the U, football at The Bank and lots of hockey!

Football, Friends...Fun!

The campers got a kick out of football at Huntington Bank Stadium Wednesday

The whole crew had a busy day on campus at the U of M Wednesday. Campers got to see Huntington Bank Stadium in the morning and hear from children's author Anthony Walsh about his journey in hockey.

The trip to the Bank saw some competitive football games and a chance to kick a ball through the uprights. Walsh spoke to all four groups about his life as an adoptee from Washington D.C. to winning the state championship as a senior.

Each group of players had a fast-paced morning skate led by former Gophers Natalie Darwitz and Ben Gordon.  Sometimes it seems the Gopher counselors are having more fun than the kids!

The afternoon went by fast.

Tony Scott sat down with four current Gophers: Allie Franco, Skylar Vetter, Mason Nevers and Connor Kurth. Each player sorted out their journey from learning to skate to skating for the Gophers in full barns and important games.

The veterans, Vetter and Nevers, shared an appreciation for the journey and taking a bigger role on the team this past season. The rookies shared with the campers the struggles of getting playing time and learning their roles as freshmen.
