Two teams remain perfect after Monday's slate, with the Montreal Jr. Canadiens and Team Minnesota each winning their respective games in regulation for six total points. Barely outside the top two are the BC Jr. Canucks, which needed overtime to dispatch Team Pennsylvania in the nightcap. The overtime win is worth two points, giving the Jr. Cancuks five for the day.  

Montreal downed the Detroit Jr. Red Wings 8-2 in its first game of the day, then emerged with a 10-5 win over the Saskatchewan Jr. Pats in a wild contest later in the day. 

Team Minnesota withstood a three-goal, third-period charge from Team Pennsylvania for a 7-4 morning victory, followed by a 5-3 win over Manitoba Monday night. The win over Manitoba featured a three-goal outburst by Team Minnesota in the third period to erase a 3-2 deficit.

In two games on Monday, the Montreal Canadiens totaled 18 goals, tops in the field. Individually, three players tallied hat tricks for the Habs, starting with Felix Beauchesne and Liam Tep, each netting three in the morning win over Detroit. 

Tep would record a second hatty in the evening session, win over Saskatchewan, concluding his day with six goals and eight points. 2023 is Tep's second tour of duty with the Montreal Brick team. He recorded three assists in six games last summer. 

Hutson Gregor rounded out the hat trick trio for Montreal, scoring once in the second period and twice in the third in the win over Saskatchewan. 

Shortly removed from Canada Day and the start of NHL free agency, Canadian teams in Edmonton came out flying to the tune of four wins in five tries against American squads. 

Toronto Pro Hockey kicked off the day with a 3-1 win over three-time defending champion Connecticut Jr. Rangers, then Montreal eased to an 8-2 win over Detroit.

The BC Jr. Canucks earned two of Canada's wins on the day, thumping the Boston Junior Bruins 8-1 and eking out a 4-3 overtime win over Team Pennsylvania.

Minnesota's win over Manitoba was America's lone win over a Canadian team on Monday.  

Team Minnesota has waited nearly one full year, but Tuesday night, the State of Hockey will get its first chance at getting even with the Connecticut Jr. Rangers. 

CJR defeated Team Minnesota 5-2 in last year's semifinals for the 2011 age group, played in 2022 after the 2021 version of the tournament was canceled due to COVID-19.

The win for the 2011's foreshadowed the 2012's run to the championship a few days later, giving CJR the last three Brick champions since 2019.
