The season of lists is officially upon us.
From the dawn of the new year, until the final pick of the 2024 NHL Draft is called on June 29 in Las Vegas, lists will surface from all corners of the internet.
For now, and according to NHL Central Scouting, Boston University's Macklin Celebrini is ranked No. 1 among North American skaters, while Denver defenseman Zeev Buium is the highest-rated American-born player. The California native currently has five goals and 25 points from the blueline in 18 games with the Pioneers. Finnish forward Konsta Helenius is ranked No. 1 among European players, followed by towering 6-foot-7 Russian defender Anton Silayev.
Twenty Minnesota products are listed among the top 203 North American skaters. Of those 20, 11 are listed as forwards and nine as defensemen. Brodie Ziemer of the National Team Development Program's Under-18 team is the highest-rated Minnesotan at No. 42, while Minnetonka's Javon Moore is the highest-rated Minnesota high schooler at No. 47. One Minnesotan goaltender, Caleb Heil, is ranked among North American goalies. Heil is currently ranked No. 8.
Former Chicago Steel standout Macklin Celebrini is ranked as NHL Central Scouting's No. 1 North American skater.
Hagen Burrows, Minnetonka
Four Minnetonka skaters are listed on NHLCS's midterm report, with players ranging from No. 47 to No. 157. Forward Javon Moore is rated highest at No. 47. The Minnesota commit leads the Skippers in goals with 13 and points with 26.
Following Moore are forwards Hagen Burrows (No. 64) and Alex Lunski (No. 132). Rounding out the quartet is defenseman John Stout at No. 157. Burrows has verbally pledged to Denver, Lunski is slated for St. Thomas, and Stout is committed to Minnesota Duluth.
Alex Lunski, Minnetonka
Following in the footsteps of last year's Mr. Hockey Jayson Shaugabay, Warroad's Carson Pilgrim finds himself the only Class A player listed among NHL Central Scouting's players.
Pilgrim currently has 19 goals and 37 points this season for the Warriors and looks to be a lock for Mr. Hockey's consideration. Pilgrim's 37 points are tied for 12th among the state's leading scorers.
Carson Pilgrim, Warroad
Not counting Shattuck-St. Mary's, of the eight current Minnesota high school players listed by NHLCS, seven of them attend public schools. Outside of the four Minnetonka players and Warroad's Carson Pilgrim, there's Rogers defenseman Jackson Smithknecht (No. 105) and White Bear Lake forward Nolan Roed (No. 142).
Cretin-Derham Hall's Jimmy Dodig (No. 112) is the only Minnesota high school player from a private or parochial school. A 6-foot-4, 195-pound junior, Dodig is in his second season on the blueline for the Raiders and has eight assists and 10 points this season through 12 games. He is verbally committed to Merrimack.
Brodie Ziemer is the highest-rated Minnesota product among NHLCS's midterm rankings at No. 42.
