Roseau at Moorhead

This Greater Minnesota Conference rematch features two clubs who know each other well and will likely see each other again in the Section 8AA playoffs. Moorhead got the best of Roseau during their first meeting of the season, 5-1, back on December 12th. Can Roseau avoid being swept?
Roseau is coming off a 2-1 victory over Alexandria and has won three out of their last five games. Junior forwards Payton Remick (St. Cloud State commit, 18 goals, 13 assists, 31 points) and Lily Erickson (11-10-21), as well as sophomore Jasmine Hovda (13-20-33) and freshman Ella Ketring (6-14-20), carry most of the scoring for the Rams.
On defense, juniors Summer Byfuglien (6-12-18) and Kylie Bjerk (0-8-8), as well as freshman Maryn Byfuglien (1-3-4) are a significant presence on the Rams' blueline and will try to limit Moorhead's offensive opportunities.
At goaltender, the Rams have leaned more heavily on freshman Madi Lisell (.881 save percentage) lately, but they have also utilized senior Jada Pelowski (.887 save percentage) this season.
Moorhead is coming off a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Bemidji and has won their last six games. The Spuds are led at forward by juniors Olivia Kortan (15-23-38), Lauren Henemen (2-10-12), and Addie Moos (7-9-16) as well as seniors Ella Holm (11-15-26), Madi Hanson (6-8-14) and Taylor Brueske (10-14-24) provide Moorhead with solid scoring depth.
On defense, senior Kate Kosobud (Minnesota commit, 6-17-23), junior Anika Stromme (4-7-11), and sophomore Lucey Wilson (4-10-14) are a well-rounded group that can stifle opponents' scoring chances while also chipping offensively. They are a big reason Moorhead's penalty kill has been a source of confidence this season, killing opposing power plays at a 91.5% rate.
Junior goaltender Taylor Kressin (.944 save percentage) has made nearly all of Moorhead's starts this season.

Farmington at Lakeville North

This is the second meeting between these two Suburban South clubs as the Tigers travel to Ames arena to take on the Panthers. Lakeville North earned a 4-2 victory over Farmington on December second. Can the Panthers sweep the season series, or will the Tigers force a split?
Farmington is coming off a 3-1 loss to Shakopee and has struggled a bit as of late, winning just one out of its last five games. Senior forward Morgan Mitchell (9-12-21) mentors a young but skilled group of Tigers like freshmen Paige Johnson (8-10-18), Layla Garofalo (6-3-9), and Lexi Giller (7-7-14), as well as 8th-graders Amelia Goblirsch (6-13-19) and Jenna Goblirsch (16-10-26) showing a lot of promise offensively.
On defense, senior Shelby Mahowald (0-2-2) and junior Kennedy Meier (1-11-12) lead a young group of freshman Josie Empey (1-6-7) and 8th-grader Norah Kratz (2-6-8), who are demonstrating more poise with each game.
At goaltender, the Tigers have split starts between junior Addison Moudry (.914 save percentage) and sophomore Makena Underwood (.909 save percentage) this season.
Lakeville North is coming off a 7-1 rout of Eagan and has won their last five games. At forward, the Panthers are led by seniors Addie Bowlby (Sacred Heart commit, 30-12-42), Gracie Hanson (12-16-28), Hannah Weckman (7-9-16), and Anna Tomas (7-11-18) as well as junior Shay Swanson (5-15-20) give Lakeville North fairly balanced scoring through its top two lines. The Panthers' power play has been dangerous, finding the back of the net at a 32.6% rate.
On defense, senior Ashley Wagenbach (4-15-19), junior Alexa Ruppert (3-5-8), sophomore Carly Hanson (1-5-6), and freshman Makayla Lee (3-10-13) are a good mix of youth and veteran experience that makes for a well-rounded group that makes an impact at both ends of the ice. Lakeville North's penalty kill has been pretty stingy, killing opposing power plays at a 94.2% rate.
The Panthers possess one of the more impressive goaltending duos in the state, where they have leaned on freshman Kaia Weiland (.932 save percentage), but senior Addie Oettinger (.954 save percentage) has been stellar when given the opportunity as well.

Northfield at Mankato East

This Big Nine rematch should have plenty of sparks and chippiness as Northfield travels to Mankato's All Season's Arena. The Raiders got the best of the Cougars during their first meeting, 5-3, on December 21st. Can Northfield sweep Mankato East? Northfield certainly drew some discussion as part of YHH's Her Icepodcast.
Undefeated Northfield is coming off a 7-3 win against Owatonna. Northfield is led by seniors Ayla Puppe (Minnesota commit, 43-32-75), Emerson Garlie (18-17-35), and Isabelle Stephes (Wisconsin-River Falls commit, 10-13-23), giving the Raiders an offense that averages just under seven goals per game. Freshman forward Emma Peroutka (6-7-13) continues to show promise. The Raiders' power play has been absolutely scorching, finding the back of the net at a 40.8% rate.
On defense, seniors Grace McCoshen (Ohio State commit, 13-19-32) and talented sophomore Mia Miller (16-30-46) are arguably the most offensively gifted defensive pairing in the state. Freshmen Isabelle Paulson (1-7-8) and Lillian Jindra (1-4-5) show lots of potential on Northfield's blueline.
Junior goaltender Macy Mueller (.938 save percentage) has made every start this season for Northfield.
Mankato East is coming off a 6-1 victory over St. Paul/Two Rivers and has won three out of their last five games. The Cougars are led at forward by senior Jessica Eykyn (24-15-39), sophomores Brielle Newton (9-13-22) and Ava Tibodeau (12-15-27), freshmen Grace Campbell (11-13-24) and Alexis Erickson (10-11-21) as well 8th-graders Laina Peterson (8-6-14) and Ella Fugazzi (4-3-7) give Mankato East decent scoring punch through its top two lines.
On defense, senior Sophie Steindl (5-6-11) mentors a young group with talented freshmen Kira Prange (4-7-11) and Emerson Asher (1-6-7), who like to get involved in the offensive zone. The Cougars penalty kill is effective, killing opposing power plays at a 93.9% rate, but they'd still be wise to avoid taking many trips to the penalty box against Northfield.
Junior goaltender Jordan Thomas (.900 save percentage) has started in every game this season for the Cougars.
Holy Family at Hill-Murray

This rematch between two non-conference opponents should be intriguing as Holy Family travels to Polar Arena to take on Hill-Murray. Hill-Murray prevailed 5-2 the first time these two teams met on December 16th. Can the Pioneers pull off a regular season sweep against the Fire?
Holy Family is coming off a 3-0 loss to Maple Grove and has won two out of their last five games. The Fire's forward group is led by senior Jenna Allen (8-11-19), junior Josie Linn (10-9-19), as well as sophomores Ella Nonweiler (11-11-22), Addy Cowan (5-12-17) and Katya Sander (6-4-10) and freshman Ella Sharkey (5-9-14) who give Holy Family decent scoring depth. Their power play is a source of strength for the Fire, lighting the lamp at a 26.2% rate.
On defense, juniors Casey Cronin (1-6-7) and Maielle Schugel (1-6-7), as well as sophomore Lilli DeFauw (4-7-11) and freshman Lauren Schowalter (0-7-7), will have their work cut out for them trying to slow down the Pioneers' offense.
Sophomore Kayla Swartout (.920 save percentage) has shouldered most of the goaltending duties this season for the Fire, but Holy Family has used senior Quinn McDonald (St. Benedict commit, .913 save percentage) this season.
Hill-Murray is coming off a 6-2 setback to Andover, but they have won five out of their last six games. The Pioneers possess a very skilled group of forwards led by seniors Chloe Boreen (St. Thomas commit, 25-15-40) and Maddy Morrell (5-12-17), junior Regan Berglund (11-7-18) along with promising freshmen Emily Pohl (16-14-30), Elliana Englehardt (3-7-10) and Jaycee Chatelain (14-13-27) give Hill-Murray an offense that averages a little over five goals per game. Hill-Murray's strong play was discussed on YHH's most recent episode of Her Ice.
On defense, junior Josie Skoogman (Cornell commit, 4-11-15) leads a young group of defenders like sophomore Elli Petronack (0-5-5), freshman Addy McLay (2-8-10) and 8th-grader Olivia Braunshausen (2-10-12).
Hill-Murray has leaned on senior Grace Zhan (Dartmouth commit, .937 save percentage) for most of the starts for the Pioneers this season. Still, they have also given some opportunities to sophomore Ava Cahill (.944 save percentage).

This is the second meeting between these two Suburban East clubs as the Bears make the trip to face Cretin-Derham Hall at Highland Ice Arena. The Raiders prevailed in the first game, 5-2, on December 5th. Can Cretin-Derham Hall complete the sweep, or will the Bears force a split?
The Bears are coming off a 4-2 victory over East Ridge and have won two out of their last five games. White Bear Lake is led at forward by seniors Ava Johnson (8-8-16), Gabby Hofeld (5-5-10), and Hailey Dawe (5-5-10), as well as juniors Amanda Smythe (9-10-19), Talia Domschot (4-12-16) and Lily Howard (4-4-8) provide the Bears scoring balance through its top two lines. Sophomore Madelyn Lee (13-15-28) has been the Bears' offensive catalyst all season.
On defense, senior Zoe Timmons (3-7-10), juniors Maddie Belisle (5-8-13) and Grace Bailey (1-7-8) as well as sophomore Olivia Simpkins (0-4-4) are getting more involved in the offensive zone as well as limiting opposing scoring chances.
At goaltender, White Bear Lake has leaned more on senior Gabriella Casa de Calvo (.898 save percentage) as of late but has not hesitated to give fellow senior Sterling Anderson (.893 save percentage) opportunities.
Cretin-Derham Hall is coming off a 3-0 loss to Roseville/Mahtomedi and has won two out of their last five games. The Raiders are led at forward by juniors Abby Broz (Franklin Pierce commit, 12-7-19), Hope Hadac (2-13-15) and Delaney Schwab (6-5-11), sophomore Isabelle Oelrich (3-2-5) and freshman Channing Haycraft (9-5-14) carry most of the scoring.
On defense, senior Casey Coffee (2-12-14), juniors McKinley Haycraft (5-4-9), and Stella Hadac (3-8-11) are capable two-way defenders who help keep the Raiders on the attack.
At goaltender, Cretin-Derham Hall has given sophomore Grace Kemp (.917 save percentage) most of the starts this season, but they have also utilized senior Katherine Nelson (.849 save percentage).
