Eagan’s Jonny Meiers goes top shelf

The two best Squirt teams in Minnesota this year will likely be Osseo Maple Grove and White Bear Lake.  This has been speculated  all Summer, but this weekend both teams with their high end kids on the ice have closed all speculation as to why.  They are skilled, they are fast and they play great team hockey. Today’s final game will be very fun to watch.

YHH saw both play yesterday.  OMG played Eagan, a team YHH thought may surprise as they were carrying top end players like Jackson Hallum and Jonny Meiers.  Eagan hung in there with the Crimson for the first 15 minutes, but MG just kept coming pouring on 65 shots on Eagan goalie Gabe Hubbard.  Despite his great effort, having two or three top end kids on every shift eventually wore down the Wildcats. Final score, MG 27-9 over Eagan.  Ethan Elias has six goals for the Crimson.

In the second game we took in, White Lake looked very sharp against a very good Edina team.

Within ten minutes White Bear was doubling up goals to Edina.  Like their counterparts to the west, they just had way too many weapons.  Ryan Sweeney and Leyton Roed were outstanding for the Bears. Constantly pressuring the Hornets on every shift and creating scoring chances and multiple goals each time on the ice.  By the midway point of the game, it was more of a “how much” question not “who” type game.  Final score, WBL 26, Edina 13.
