Julianna Thompson makes one of her 56 saves versus Northern Elite

Today we covered two games at the 2013 Caribou Cup.  We saw the 2001 Machine Orange play Legacy Red and the 2001 Northern Elite take on Team Winwell from Canada. The Northern Elite vs. Winwell was a great game.  Player of the Game was Julianna Thomson from Team Winwell, she made 56 saves and really helped keep her team in the game long enough until they tied it late in the third. Here is a video recap of what we saw earlier today.

In other action, Machine Orange seems to be in the driver’s seat in the ’99 division so far.  The Euro Red team seems to be the strongest team so far in the ’00 division.  The 01 division will have some competitive games from here on out. So far the Sweet Hands team looks good, as do the Machine.  But the surprise so far is the ’02 Blades playing in the ’01 Division going a respectable 2-1 in pool play and hanging tough with the ’01 Machine 3-0. The Machine Orange knocked off likely championship game opponent Euro Red, 2-1 in today’s best game at Maple Grove. Legacy and Machine are on a collision course in the finals (and a pool play game Saturday night).

Scoring Leaders:

-1999, Sammy Walker (6 pts.)

-2000, Conner Bizal (9 pts.)

-2001, Garrett Pionomi (14 pts.)

-2002, Lleyton Roed (3 pts.)

-2oo3, Jackson Borst (8 pts.)

Tourney Leader, 2001 AAA, Nik Norman 15 points

Star of the Day: Julianna Thomson, Goalie Team Winwell (56 saves)
Have a day: Garrett Pionomi, Machine Orange – 3 goals, 3 assists
Biggest Kid: Baron Thompson, ’99 Nats (he’s so big, he plays with his Birth Certificate sewn into his breezers)

Biggest Heart: Lucas Wahlin, got hurt came back for more.
Saturday will separate the men from the boys in all divisions.  In some divisions all but the championship has been decided.  Tomorrow we will make our way to St. Louis Park to see the 01 Sweet Hands team and the 03 Machine take on the NorthernWings. Should be a feast for my camera.
