The first day of the Caribou Cup is complete. No real surprises, except maybe some of the teams and the players playing.  The tourney has a bundle of talent on display, except a lot of the notable players are not rostered with whom they’ve rostered for most of the season, or teams are not placed in the division they are normally accustomed to.  That being said, YHH will get to see a lot of nice players showcasing their abilities.

Tonight we got our first real glimpse of the ’04 Miracle Gold team.  A very nice collection of players that are highly skilled.  What stood out most about their team is how well they moved the puck in transition and used their point men as an outlet in the offensive zone.  Four kids that stood out tonight were skaters Attila Lippai, Ryan Chesley, Tyler Trombley and goalie Ben Dardis who had 32 saves.

In other action, the ’00 Attack beat the ’00 Reebok Nats and the ’02 Euros knocked off the ’02 MN Playmakers.  Several top players were on these four rosters: Wyatt Palmer, Ben Brinkman, Nathan Johannes, Ty Black, Ben Beattie, Brock Faber, Tyler Oakland, Lleyton Roed and Sam Newpower.

Tomorrow YHH will be covering some ’99 and ’01 action.  We plan on seeing the ‘o1 Northern Elite and the ’01 Machine Orange. Two teams that could meet later in bracket play. The apparel at the event was selling fast. A very cool distressed look and a unique color palette had a lot people lining up to buy. If we are lucky, we might a get free shirt when we shoot a video in Maple Grove tomorrow.

Keep an eye out for a video this weekend.
