On Monday August 19th, The Rhythm of the Heart Golf Fundraiser was held at Island View Golf Course in Waconia benefitting The Children’s Heart Foundation and High School of Recording Arts. This year’s event honored George Lagerstrom, younger brother of Edina’s Jack Lagerstrom. Last season Jack’s Edina PeeWee AA team dedicated their State Championship Season to George who had open heart surgery in September of 2012 at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia to correct a congenital heart defect. YHH wrote a story chronicling George last March, you can read it here.

George spent several months in Philadelphia as he battled countless complications from the surgery and suffered damages to his extremities (similar to frostbite) resulting in loss of parts of both hands and feet. George is now back at home in Edina with his family – parents Ed and Julie and his brother Jack and sister Elizabeth. George and his family are truly inspirational people and are thankful and blessed for the outpouring of support from the entire hockey community.

May the Force be with you, George.
