YHH says that many of these same girls will be the team to beat this year in U12A. This is a picture from their U10A championship team from the 2011 Cakeeater Classic.

Here is a brief overview of what is to come for next year’s U12A level of Girls Hockey in Minnesota. It’s going to be a great year.  Lots of great returning players and some very strong talent coming in from the U10A teams from all over the state.

1. Edina - Depth, depth, depth…and talent.  Going with two A teams means they will have TONS of experience coming back.  The reigning U12A champs will again have a target on their back.

2. WBL - Really high end talent in their top 3-4.  If their goalie stays in boys Pee Wee’s, it could affect them.  This is a team you don’t want to see on your side of the bracket in a tournament. Along with Edina, they will be a tough team to beat. Go Bears!

3. Stillwater - Return a few high end players, great depth and speed and maybe the top goalie in U12 if the WBL girls plays boys.   Might be the second best group top to bottom to Edina.

4. Wayzata - Very deep group and not much difference from #7-#15.

5. Woodbury - Very talented group.  Would be in the top 3 but YHH is hearing their top player is moving out of state.

6. Andover - Solid goal tending, team speed and aggressive group.

7. Minneapolis Storm - Very talented group.  Will the private schools steal some talent for their JV programs?

8. Grand Rapids/Greenway - These girls from the north know the game and are aggressive.

9. Forest Lake - Young and talented and did I say young?  Their talent puts them in the top 10, their youth might drop them out.

10. Mound Westonka - The #1 team in the state at U10A two years ago with this group lead by the top scorer in the state at the time.  Its a lot harder to ride one player in U12A.  That said, MWT has more depth than you think.

Don’t sleep on Shakopee.  They could easily bump one of these teams out of the top 10.
