For the second year, Youth Hockey Hub will be presenting a Player of the Year Award to a player from the U10A, U12A, Squirt A and PeeWee AA/A divisions. The award is called the Wiz Wyatt Award, given in honor of Minnesota Hockey Legend Wiz Wyatt (see more on him below). The award will be given to the player who:

-Shows outstanding ability on the ice

-Is a good student

-A leader and well respected in the locker room

-A great all around athlete outside of hockey

YHH will be handing out a Player of the Year Award to a Bantam player, but based soley on hockey performance.

When all nominations are submitted, each of those four categories will be weighed evenly to determine our WWPOY. Coaches and Managers please send an email with one or two candidates from your team. The nominations will be kept private. If a player is chosen as a finalist  only then will it be revealed on our website. We will be in touch with each player if that player is going to be named a finalist. Nominations will only be accepted from team coaches and managers. YHH reserves the right to nominate players that are not nominated by their teams.

Please provide YHH with as much detail as you can about their hockey ability, school record, other sports, etc.

About Wiz Wyatt: Wiz was an All Conference and All Metro hockey player at Minneapolis West High School in 1972, where he also played and lettered a combined 9 times in Football, Hockey and Baseball. In his Senior year, he was named captain of all three teams. He went on to attend Harvard University where he played hockey. In his Junior season, his team lost to the University of Minnesota in the NCAA Final Four. After graduating with Honors and serving as Class Marshall at Harvard, Wiz eventually returned to Minneapolis and was a volunteer coach both as a non-parent and parent in the Minneapolis and Edina youth programs. Wiz lives in Edina with his wife of 30 years Jane, where they raised four children – now adults – Susan, Mary, Mike, and Jessie.
