Will the Skippers Sail Away with the White Bear on Sunday?

The Battle for the White Bear Named Moose

The Moose Goheen tournament for Peewee AA starts Thursday night with Centennial vs Woodbury. Some top teams in the state for Peewee AA are in this one including Prior Lake and Minnetonka. There are twelve teams total with three pools but only one team will be able to lift up the moose trophy on Sunday night. These are how each pool plays out and the predictions..

Pool A

Centennial, Duluth East, Prior Lake, Woodbury. The top two teams in this pool will be Prior Lake and Duluth East. Centennial has had a down year with only one win and that was over Woodbury. Woodbury has had some good games and some tough ones. They won a key won over Bloomington Jefferson and have also beat Centennial. Prior Lake is a very skilled team and has a good chance at winning this pool. They have had two close games vs #1 Edina in YHH Now Rankings. Prior Lake will be the team to move on after pool play.

Pool B

Minnetonka wins EP Tourney and looks to win another.

Rosemount, Minnetonka, Blaine, White Bear Lake. This pool will be filled with surprises. Minnetonka is a top team but Rosemount will be looking to to take them down. Blaine will be right with Minnetonka also. The host White Bear Lake will be hoping to move on too and might have a chance if they play really well but I think the Minnetonka Skippers and Rosemount Irish will be the two teams to advance out of this pool.

Pool C

OMG looks to get their first tourney win in WBL

Andover, Eden Prairie, Lakeville North, Osseo-Maple Grove. Osseo-Maple Grove will for sure be a top team in this pool. Andover is also a great team and has some big games this year. They have beat Brainerd, a top team for PWAA, but have also lost to OMG. Eden Prairie has lost to Andover once and OMG three times this year but beat a top Prior Lake once. Lakeville North has lost to OMG also. The team to advance out of this pool will be Osseo - Maple Grove.

Sunday

Semi #1: Prior Lake > Rosemount (5-2). Prior Lake has beaten Rosemount once this year and that was Prior Lake's first game. PL has definitely improved and will beat the Irish.

Semi #2: Minnetonka > Osseo - Maple Grove (2-1). Both of these teams are very good but it will come down to how the goalies play. Jon Howe is the only goalie for the Skippers and has played pretty well vs OMG only allowing four goals with one win and one loss against them. He will get another win in this game.

Finals:

3rd Place Game: OMG > Rosemount (5-3)

Championship: Minnetonka > Prior Lake (3-2). There have been a lot of upsets in the month of January for youth hockey and this will be the first one in February. These two teams have played three times this year, Prior Lake winning two of them and Minnetonka with one win. This game will be a great one to watch. It will come down to a goal late for the Skippers.
