Tony the Greek seeks redemption

Saturday will be a day for OMG to shine.

Every few weeks, Tony the Greek makes a comeback.  And every time he vows to never return.  This time the "Greek" will try to dazzle you once again with his great hockey mind.  Be reminded, there are no sure things in Squirt hockey.

Before your eyes, "Opa" below you find who will be playing on Saturday afternoon in the Final 8.

Prior Lake > East Grand Forks...the Lakers have beaten the Green Wave twice already this year, Saturday will be # 3.

White Bear Lake > Woodbury...the Bears will be too strong for the Preds tight defensive style.

Roseau > Apple Valley...this is a great year for District 16 (three teams in the final 16...if one advances Saturday, it will be the Rams. These two teams are very similar.  Quick, well coached...and a couple of waterbug superstars.

Edina > Wayzata...the Cakeeaters win this matchup of storied metro youth associations.

St. Cloud > Highland (my double wrong prediction)...I guessed wrong on both teams.  The Huskies have had a great season and are starting to put it together at the right time.  Highland is one of 3 teams in Minnesota to get a point off of White Bear.

Chaska Chan > Park Cottage Grove...this choice wasn't popular on South 80th Street, but Chaska Chan has had some big wins this year, including one over White Bear. I'll bet a tray of mama's best backlava that the StormHawks win.

Shakopee > Grand Forks, ND...YHH can't believe it's eyes...Grand Forks is back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2012 when the Blues made the title game.  Shakopee is likely in their first Sweet 16 and has played well this season. The Winner gets OMG..not exactly a great prize.

OMG > Bemidji..Bemidji would have been a sleeper team this year hadn't they been slotted into OMG's pool. The Crimson will be too much for the Jacks.

Wayzata looks to pull the upset against Edina Saturday.
