And Then There Were 4..Scores, Pics and Scoring Leaders

A Big Day in Fargo for Squirts

The day began with 16 teams. Some happy to be there, others somewhat unknown and others with a purpose.  The top 3 teams: OMG, WBL and Edina were on a mission. The fourth slot was going to be between Park Cottage Grove, Chaska Chan, St. Cloud, and Highland Central.

Morning Games

Carsten Lardy with a big save for Highland Central against St. Cloud

Prior Lake > East Grand Forks (2-1)

White Bear Lake > Woodbury (4-3)

Roseau > Apple Valley (3-1)

Edina > Wayzata (4-1)

St. Cloud > Highland (3-1)

Chaska Chan > PCG (5-2)

Grand Forks > Shakopee (3-2)

OMG > Bemidji (8-0)

Commentary: Tony the Greek goes 7 for 8 on Saturday. Surprising Grand Forks upends Shakopee 3-2. District 6 with 3 teams of final 8. All of the games were much closer than expected.

Jacob Hicks buries one top shelf to give OMG a 4-1 lead against Grand Forks.

Afternoon Games

White Bear Lake > Prior Lake (5-3)

Edina > Roseau (5-1)

Chaska Chan > St. Cloud (4-0)

OMG > Grand Forks (4-1)

Commentary: Chaska Chan sweeps two higher seeds. They have knocked off WBL already this year, can they pull it off against OMG Sunday? Coach Snuggerud has his the StormHawks flying high. OMG will always remember Grand Forks and the battle they gave on Saturday. White Bear holds off one D6 team in Prior Lake and will face another against Edina. The Hornets are also playing as well as anyone. Sunday Morning should serve up some exciting hockey at both rinks.
