Elk River Moves onto Semis lead by Jax Murray Hat Trick

Clayton Phillips scores from the point to help Edina to a 4-3 win over EP

Bantam AA

Casey Mittelstadt with a huge goal for Eden Prairie

Game 1: Stillwater Knocks off District Rival White Bear Lake. Luke Manning had the Hat Trick for the Ponies as they knocked off the Bears 5-2...their fifth win over WBL this season.

Game 2: Elk River beats Hermantown on Murray hat trick. Big players make big plays in big games. Jax Murray had a hat trick for the Elks in front of a rabid "home" crowd fan base. Kyle Bouten added an ENG to give the Elks a 4-0 win over Hermantown. Cade McEwen had 44 saves for the Hawks who were in the game and had several quality chances, but Elk River Goalie Ben Meyers was solid, too.

Game 3: Edina stuns Eden Prairie 4-3. After going 0-4-1 against Eden Prairie this year, very few felt Edina had a chance against number 1 Eden Prairie. The Hornets are easily the hottest team in Bantam AA right now, we picked the upset via Twitter Friday morning. The Hornets delivered. Scoring three goals in the first two periods, two by Lewis Crosby and one by Clayton Phillips. In the third, the Eagles did not go down without a fight. Casey Mittelstadt scored on a pretty backhander to make it 3-1. Nolan Sullivan scored again to make it 3-2 with 4 minutes to go, but on the next shift Ben Copeland had the goal of the day on an end to end dangle, snipe and celly to give the Hornets a 4-2 lead. Nick Lieverman would add a late goal with under a minute to go to cut the lead to 4-3, but it wasn't enough.

Game 4: Grand Rapids ends Woodbury's magical run. Micah Miller had two goals and the ThunderHawks stormed past Woodbury 6-2, ending the Predators valiant late season push.

Jax Murray gets the Hat Trick and the Elk River fans show their appreciation.

Bantam A

Highland scores on the power play in the second period.

Highland upends #1 Edina

Andy Kromer scores for Edina

Game 1: Wayzata beats EGF in OT. The Trojans knock off the Green Wave in overtime after EGF scored with 34 seconds left to tie it.

Game 2: Tartan beats Farmington 6-4. Tartan scores on two of three power play chances including one in the third that ended up being the GWG. The Titans advance to final four versus Wayzata.

Game 3: Delano outlasts Alexandria 2-1. Leading 2-1 after the first period, Delano hung on to beat the Cardinals. Delano advances to semis against Highland Central.

Game 4: Highland holds off #1 Edina 4-3. In a great see saw game, Highland got a goal in each of the first two periods and eventually added a third  early in the third to make it 3-0. But Edina would fight back...scoring two quick goals to cut the lead to 3-2. But Highland would answer. Edina, firmly in control of the game, yet needing to attack had an ill advised offensive zone pinch that freed the Caps on a 2-1 that they converted on (no first name) Auran got credit for the pretty goal to make it 4-2 with under 6 minutes to go. Edina's Andy Kromer would score to cut the Highland lead to 4-3, but Edina could not muster another goal in the last four minutes.

Bantam B

Game 1: Wayzata Blue > Blaine (5-2)

Game 2: North St. Paul > Sibley (4-1)

Game 3: Wayzata Navy > Lake of the Woods (4-0)

Game 4: White Bear Lake > Johnson Como (3-2)

Commentary: Big win for the Bears over Johnson Como. Are the two Wayzata teams on a collision course for Sunday? District 2 versus District 3 today. Three true B teams of the four in the final four.

PeeWee AA

Game 1: Sibley > Prior Lake (2-1)...Sibley scored two unanswered goals in the second period to advance to the Final Four Saturday. Prior Lake had two power plays in the third period, but could not convert.

Game 2: Rochester > Cloquet (5-4, 2OT)...Jared Anderson scored in double overtime to lead Rochester into the semifinals. The big defenseman made a great move and then fired a wrist shot past the Lumberjack Goalie for the win.

Game 3: Edina > Minnetonka (8-3)...leading 5-2 going into the third, Minnetonka cut the lead to 5-3. Edina took control of the game after that scoring 3 unanswered goals and salted away an 8-3 win. They will take on OMG in the semis...a team they have beaten twice (once in the Spirit of Duluth tournament in December).

Game 4: OMG > Hermantown (2-1, OT)...Trevor Janicke scored the GWG on a breakaway goal to lift OMG to the semis. A great back and forth game of which either team could have won.

PeeWee A

Game 1: Sartell > Spring Lake Park (2-1)

Game 2: Highland Central > Edina (2-0)

Game 3: Armstrong Cooper > Alexandria (2-1, OT)...Mike Berns with the GWG

Game 4: Mahtomedi > Farmington (6-2)

Commentary: Highland with two first round wins over Edina teams (I'm sure there were some celebrations in St. Paul Friday)...first the PeeWees, then the Bantams. Four of the top 5 teams in YHH Staff Rankings lose Friday (so much for Rankings being accurate).

PeeWee B

Clean sweep on picks

Game 1: Minneapolis > Little Falls (4-0)

Game 2: White Bear Lake > Eagan Blue (7-1)

Game 3: Wayzata Gold > Blaine (6-2)

Game 4: Edina White > Mahtomedi (4-2)

Commentary: Four for Four on my first round picks! The semifinal games will be great games in Two Harbors Saturday. White Bear seems to be a team of destiny right now.
