Plymouth Ice Center Set To Host Top Boys and Girls at the 16 & 17 Festivals

St. Paul, MN – April 1, 2014 – The 2014 Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance Program season will continue this weekend with the Boys’ and Girls’ HP 16 & 17 Spring Festivals at Plymouth Ice Center. The Reebok Minnesota Hockey High Performance 15, 16, 17 & 18 programs are designed to identify the best players in Minnesota and to provide the top players from each district or section the chance to play with and against the best players in the state.

The Festival kicks off this Friday and will wrap up with championship games on Sunday. The top 54 boys and girls at each age level will be selected to participate in the Final 54 to be held at Plymouth Ice Center April 24 – 27. From that event, the top players will be chosen to represent Minnesota Hockey at a national festival/camp, sponsored by USA Hockey. The national camp will involve the top players from each of the USA Hockey districts and will be used to identify the top performers in each age group for possible opportunities to represent the United States at advance levels of national and international competition.

More than 50 players have returned to these HP Festivals this season after participating in a USA Hockey national camp last year. Rosters and schedules for the HP 16 & 17 Festivals can be found below:

“It takes a great deal of skill, dedication, perseverance and hard work to reach this stage of the High Performance evaluation process,” said High Performance Director, Mike MacMillan. “We are so proud of all of these boys and girls as they continue to show why Minnesota continues to produce the most college hockey players in the country.”
