Chi Town Shuffle: Minnesota teams blow into the Windy City

Team by Team Re-Cap of Minnesota Teams' performance over the weekend


'04 Florida Alliance Forward on a Penalty Shot vs. Miracle Gold.

12 teams from Minnesota loaded up the vans and headed to Chicago for some high level Spring hockey. For some teams it was their first trip to the Windy City together, for others it will likely be their last. One team won their class ('03 Miracle Gold) and two others ('01 American Stars and '05 Machine Black) took second. Other top players from Minnesota took to rosters like DHI and the Bauer Selects for a shot a Chi Town glory.  The following is a recap of their progress this past weekend.

Elite: Machine Orange (0-4-0)

AAA: Machine Black (4-1-0)...finished second, lost 3-2 to DHI Octane. Beat Chicago Hawks in Semis after going 3-0 in Pool Play.

'04 Miracle Gold Defenseman Ryan Chesley fires a wrist shot against Octane Elite

Elite: Miracle Gold (2-3-0)...lost in Semifinals to Florida Alliance, beat DHI Octane 7-6 in Quarterfinals.

Machine Orange (0-4-0)

AAA: Miracle Gold (5-1-0)...won Championship over Chicago Mission Girls 5-0 avenging a pool play loss earlier in the tournament, beat Miracle Black in semifinals 5-4.

Miracle Black (3-2-0)...beat Pool A Champ Vikings in the Quarterfinals 6-3, lost in Semifinals to Miracle Gold 5-4.

MN Arrows (2-2-0)...went 2-1 in Pool Play, lost to Chicago Mission Girls in Quarterfinals 5-1.

Elite: Euro American Red (2-2-0)...took third in Pool Play. 

MN Icemen (1-2-1)...two losses came to Champion (Bauer Selects) and Runner-Up (Chicago Bulldogs)

Elite: American Stars (4-1-1)...finished second to Bauer Selects. Overcame two goal deficit and beat MN Machine 7-5 in Semifinals.

MN Machine (2-2-1)...took second in Pool Play and lost to American Stars in Semifinals.

Elite: Euro American Red (2-2-0)...lost a heartbreaker to 6-5 to Octane Elite.


In 6 periods, the '04 Miracle Gold were shutout by Florida, but that doesn't mean that didn't come close.
